PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greetings NTMCA Members!
At the September 16, 2020 meeting, President Monica Solko was recognized for her commitment to our chapter and leadership over the past year. Did you know Monica completed the CPM (Texas Certified Public Manager Program) and associate’s degree all while she was serving our chapter as president? In addition, Monica led our chapter through COVID-19 with grace and ingenuity. What a go-getter and great role model for us. Thank you Monica!
SEPTEMBER MEETING RECAP
Thank you to Kim Sutter, Lindsay Wells and the City of Euless for hosting our September meeting at the Texas Star Golf Course in Euless. As always, you provide a wonderful luncheon for our membership. A big thank you to Mayor Pro Tem Jeremy Tompkins of the City of Euless for welcoming the membership to his City. Mr. Tompkins shared that if you love golf, Texas Star is the place to play. Mayor Linda Martin also made a guest appearance. I heard she canceled her vacation so she could join us for lunch! (wink wink)
Our speaker Nikki Nanos spoke to us about “Connection and positivity in COVID times. Taking a positive approach to those things out of our control.” During her presentation, Nikki shared how excited she was to be presenting to real people. I know we can all relate to that on some level. Nikki showed us ways to stop trying to control everything and accept the ever-changing world we are living in by walking us through an exercise to tell our fear, anxiety, and jerks at the store to “Be happy, Be well, Be safe.” I think it’s hard to be stressed when we are sending positive thoughts to those negative things that are occupying space in our brain. Nikki encouraged us to live in the present moment - non-judgmentally and with compassion - this will change everything.
Nominating Committee Chair Kim Sutter, with special appearance by Alicia Richardson, presented the Oath of Office to the incoming Board members. Kim presented the Board and membership representatives with the following letters to represent their role in NTMCA.

R – Responsibility - President
E – Enthusiasm – Vice President
C – Clear and Concise - Secretary
I – Integrity - Treasurer
P – Participation - Historian
E – Engaged - Membership
S – Support – Membership

“Recipes” I believe NTMCA has the perfect ingredients for many successful recipes. Thank you Kim for making our oath both meaningful and memorable!

OCTOBER MEETING:

Please join us Wednesday, October 21st via video conference for the NTMCA monthly luncheon featuring guest speaker Kelley Moore who will share “Achieving Confidence, Credibility and Composure.” After speaking with her this week, we are in for a treat.

Kelley was a United States Marine Corps F/A-18 Fighter Attack Aircraft Communications Specialist. She knows how to get the message across so the mission is accomplished. She is an expert in transformational leadership and human performance development with a demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams of professionals to new levels of success in a variety of highly competitive industries, cutting-edge markets, and fast-paced environments. Kelley brings a proven ability to successfully find and emphasize individual strengths while helping develop strategies to reinforce gaps. “I create open, honest environments that instill confidence and foster trust through Courageous Communication™.” She is passionately dedicated to transformational leadership practices and increasing human potential.
It has been a strange year so far. However, the Board is so optimistic! We have expanded our meeting options to include video-conference meetings along with in-person meetings as well. More to come on the benefits of your membership. Submit your Membership Application today!
SAVE THE DATE!

The NTMCA Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Bedford School, 2400 School Lane. Make plans to join us for an afternoon filled with fun, food, and celebration. Please bring a wrapped ornament for the exchange.

Please be prepared to bid on an incredible selection of silent auction items benefitting the Alyce Deering Scholarship Fund.

Cash donations will be accepted for this year’s Charity – Michael’s Memories. The Mission of Michael’s Memories is to provide firefighters with cancer the opportunity to "getaway from cancer" on a vacation with their family. Allowing them to reconnect and escape the stress, trauma, and financial burden that undergoing cancer treatment creates while also involving the community and raising cancer awareness to the public. www.michaelsmemories.org
Lastly, well almost…. thank you for your service and dedication to our organization and each other year after year! I have had the blessing to serve our chapter in several ways and I always learn something new, meet someone new, and am encouraged when I head back to the office. There are many opportunities to serve each other and the chapter. Take a look at the options below, and perhaps serve on a committee or host a meeting! (There is one host location needed) It takes a village, so to speak.

I would like to leave you with a little encouragement each month. So here is the first installment of the “Kindness Korner.” I will start this month and then will use your contributions. Please send me your thoughts, observations, sayings, and experiences on kindness. Let’s share all the ways being “kind” makes a difference to others and ourselves.

Sincerely, Traci Henderson, President
