Food insecurity continues to rise at record levels during the pandemic. River City Food Bank is serving nearly 20,000 people each month, a number we never anticipated reaching. As the pandemic stretches on, the need for our services is growing.
Recently, I met Ruby and her two-year old son. She is unemployed but her husband works full time. His salary helps but does not cover all of the bills. When they do not have enough to purchase groceries, Ruby comes to the Food Bank so that she can provide healthy meals for her family. Following her recent visit she said, “More than anything, I appreciate not being judged. I can come here, get what I need and know that people are here to help.”
River City Food Bank has always operated with a philosophy that no one should be hungry. With your generosity, we welcome Ruby and any family experiencing hunger with dignity, compassion and respect.
COVID-19 has created unprecedented need for food assistance and I am thankful for your help to serve our neighbors. We could not do it without your amazing support!
With Gratitude,

Community Partner Spotlight
River City Food Bank is proud to partner with Point West Rotary to serve children facing hunger through our BackSnacks program!

For years, Point West Rotary has supported this program through monetary donations, as well as volunteering to deliver portable, healthy snacks to our partner schools. Their on-going support of our BackSnacks partner school, Greer Elementary, has been invaluable.

Just this week, Point West Rotary gifted the food bank with an additional $5,000 to ensure that children facing hunger in Sacramento County have access to the food they need to thrive, especially while they distance learn during the pandemic.

“Point West Rotary is proud to partner with River City Food Bank. Our motto is “Service Above Self” and the mission of our Foundation is to help organizations and programs that serve and benefit children and celebrate or promote community service," says Christopher Taylor, Chair of Point West Rotary. "River City Food Bank perfectly aligns with our mission and we especially appreciate the support they give to our local schools in providing healthy snacks to hungry children that need energy to learn and thrive. We have been working with River City Food Bank for many years, we appreciate their leadership, their energy and ability to pivot during these challenging times.”

We cannot thank them enough for their compassion and dedication to alleviating hunger in our community.
