Hi Ladies,

We are excited to announce that this month we will meet in person at Benedict's and lunch for members will be on us! To facilitate this and our speaker, the meeting will start at 11:30 am and go to 1:00 pm. Our speaker will be Dr. Dale Presser, a cardiologist in our area, and he will talk to us about heart disease.

During the meeting, we will also vote for our 2021 Community Partners and Board Members. We will hear from each of the five area non-profits that have applied for our support.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone in person on October 15th.

Join Us as we finally get together again! This will be a great opportunity to catch up with each other, enjoy an interesting, informative speaker, do some WIP business, and have lunch! Doors open at 11:00.

Our October Meeting is typically our organization's Annual Meeting and will include election of our 2021 Board and voting on our 2021 Community Partners.

As we have mentioned in previous newsletters, we are are planning a light lunch for our returning celebration. Of course we will be following the Covid restrictions, so please wear a facemask and practice social distancing while we are up and about. The room will be set up with large tables and distance between guests. All members in good standing will be able to vote and enjoy lunch on WIP. Guests are welcome to join us and we will ask them to pay a nominal fee for lunch if they are not ready to join our organization.

If you plan to join us on October 15th from 11:30-1, please let us know by completing this form before Monday, October 12th. Your response will let Shirley be sure to have enough food and seating for us!

Dr. Dale Presser, a cardiologist in our area, will join us to talk to about heart disease in women. Do you know what a heart attack looks and feels like? October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - One in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. GEAUX PINK invites the community to join in the fight against cancer during October. Funds raised stay local and support Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center breast cancer screenings and early detection initiatives.

Art of Hope - November 2-5, 2020 - Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center will host a virtual auction featuring patient-inspired art pieces created by local artists. We hope you will join us in sharing this fun new virtual event with colleagues, family and friends!

Check out some of what we have going on!
  1. Open Table provides relationship support for transition youths and at-risk parents. 5-8 individuals form a village (Open Table) around a young person to help them navigate life. They meet for one hour a week for one year. This program has been very successful. We are always in need of individuals to sit on these Open Tables that we form.
  2. We are at the very beginning of a new program to provide cars for transitioning youths. A lack of transportation is one of the key areas that causes these youths to fall through the cracks. They cannot get to education and job opportunities. We have recently donated our first car and want to create a continuing program. We need committee members to help with the design and operating of the program.
  3. With COVID ramifications challenging this special event, we are in need of assistance to plan and carry out our annual Christmas party at the James Samaritan Center.

CBIB, Compassionate Burials for Indigent Babies, is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2007 to provide dignified burials for abandoned or indigent babies in our area. Our dedicated team assists in the funerals and burials of the babies, bringing comfort and closure to their families. We have buried almost 200 babies - our most recent burial was a victim of Covid-19. As we all know, funerals can be expensive.
