I-Lab - The Bronx Tech Incubator at Lehman College Joins BIANYS

The Bronx Business Tech Incubator is supported by the New York City Council and New York City Economic Development Corporation as a startup incubator for tech freelancers, local small business, and entrepreneurs.

The Catalyst- Incubator launched by Westchester County Economic Development joins BIANYS

Westchester County has launched a new program to jumpstart 1000 new businesses using an online, ‘safe from home’ technology training platform. Launch 1000 will help 1000 businesses starting mid November and anyone in the County can apply. Part of the program is to create linkages between the participants and other organizations with in the county, help them launch successfully by meeting relevant experts in our community.

US economist and former chief economic advisor to Pres. Obama, Dr; Lawrence Summers. You might use its conclusions:
Overall, we find that the average social returns to innovation investments appear very large….Even under very conservative assumptions, it is difficult to find an average return below $4 per $1 spent. Accounting for health benefits, inflation bias, or international spillovers can bring the social returns to over $20 per $1 spent, with internal rates of return approaching 100%.

UB ventures into funding, invests $250,000 in student-founded startup

The first-ever venture capital fund administered by the University at Buffalo has made its inaugural investment: $250,000 to Buffalo Automation, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup founded by former UB students and primarily focused on autonomous marine navigation. UB’s investment will be matched by Varia for a total investment of $500,000.

 Launch NY closed its first for profit fund, Launch NY Seed Fund I, LP (the LP Fund) at over $5.4 million at the end of Q3, through the participation of more than 70 individuals and organizations as limited partners (LPs).

Q3 NYC seed deals skyrocket amid the pandemic

 Last year in Q3 we reached an all-time seed activity high in NYC. This year, while deals are down 13% and total funding is down 21% YoY, the numbers are still at the highest they’ve been since that record-breaking Q3 2019 quarter.

76West is an unparalleled competition focused on growing entrepreneurs and attracting resources from the U.S. and around the world to build clean energy businesses and jobs in New York State’s Southern Tier region. Administered by NYSERDA, the 76West Competition was launched in 2016 as a $20 million four-year initiative to grow the clean energy ecosystem in the Southern Tier with funds from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the Clean Energy Fund.








Goldman Sachs announced the application for its next cohort for its 10,000 small businesses program

The program provides business education, support services and access pathways to capital for growth-oriented entrepreneurs. Participants gain practical skills to take their business to the next level, with topics like financial statements, negotiations, and marketing.
