October 2021 Edition
COVID-19 Safety Protocols
As shared at the Annual CCL Meeting, Butte County 4-H is following safety guidelines required by California 4-H.

  • These guidelines currently state masks and social distancing are required for all indoor meetings and events.
  • Masks are optional at outdoor events, but social distancing is still required.
  • These policies apply to all individuals regardless of age or vaccination status.
  • Guidelines can be more strict as deemed necessary by local public health agencies, but cannot be less strict than directed by California 4-H.

More information about current guidelines can be found here on the State website.
Website
The University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is experiencing major outages on the servers that house all Cooperative Extension and 4-H websites. This includes Butte County 4-H.

  • UC ANR IT has informed us they are transferring domains to new servers as quickly as possible.
  • The Butte County Cooperative Extension website has been up and running for about five days, but the files on the site have not been accessible.
  • If you need a file that will not load, please call Linda at (530) 538-7201 and she can email it to you.
  • This has caused delay to us updating the website with new event information, click here to view the most up to date calendar.
  • If this problem persists, we will consider temporary measures that will make frequently used documents accessible to all.
  • This situation is very fluid and changing almost daily, so we appreciate your patience while it is resolved.
4hOnline 2.0 & Enrollment
This year 4hOnline was sunsetted and we are now using the website 4hOnline 2.0 for enrollment. It serves the same function but has a facelift. There is also hope that in the future this website will be able to accept enrollment fees and house the volunteer training videos. However, for now, they will have to be paid and completed in the same manner as in the past.

Below is a simple Enrollment Guide that should has everything needed to enroll on one page, and can answer most FAQ's. Answers to further questions can be found on our brand new enrollment website! If you still have questions about enrollment please don't hesitate to reach out to Linda at ladarby@ucanr.edu or (530) 538-7201.

Although the website has been down, you can still pay by credit card on the here!

Annual Calendar
To say the least, it's been an interesting fall to finalize our calendar! Nearly all of the dates that we normally have at this time of year are complete.

Click here to view the calendar. (We recommend saving it somewhere handy given the website's reliability right now)
Fair Requirements/New Enrollment Date
Update: The Butte County 4-H Council voted in September on changes to the Fair Participation Agreement. These are reflected in items #5 and #7.

Also, please remember that this year the enrollment date required to show livestock at either the Silver Dollar or Butte County Fairs is now the third Thursday in October which falls on October 21st.

Awards Night
After a one-year hiatus, we will once again be holding our Annual Awards Night!

The event will take place at The Pavilion at the Chico State University Farm on October 16th at 5:30 pm. West Gridley 4-H will be serving a dessert that will be followed by a program recognizing members and volunteers for achievements from the last year.

This year we have two County Ambassadors. To help them, we are asking for approximately 3-4 Senior 4-H members to help them emcee event (this counts as a Communication Skill in your Record Book!) If you're interested in helping, please email Ryan Cleland at rpcleland@ucanr.edu.
Camp Location
It is that time of year again!

Camp Counselors will begin to meet in October to plan for the 2022 Butte County 4-H Camp which will take place from June 26-30. Being a Camp Counselor is one of the high points of 4-H for many of our members, so we recommend eligible members to attend the first meeting to see if it's the right fit for them. Counselors must currently be in high school.
