The 2022 schedule is here! Click to view. The 2021 sailing season has come to a close and what a fantastic summer it was! We very much enjoyed seeing so many familiar and new faces sailing aboard the schooner and joining us in celebrating our first season as hosts and caretakers of the Heritage. This season was full of great weather, memorable moments, and unforgettable sails. It was a warm one with lots of swimming. We enjoyed evening rows, and this year was a record season for how many guests took Lois Lane out sailing. We feasted on endless lobsters and sang along on many fun music nights. Doug and Linda joined us for a handful of trips. For the first time they were able to sail aboard as guests enjoying a perfect Maine Windjammer vacation. It was great having them to share their knowledge and stories of the area.

The meals from the galley were delicious. Stephanie and Ella did an exceptional job creating mouth-watering culinary delights. New dishes like our Honey Maple Glazed Salmon, and the Sweet Pea Risotto to go along with our stuffed chicken were exquisite. And don't forget about the Corn Bread Pudding Casserole to go with the pulled pork which was simply irresistible. The massive charcuterie boards never failed to impress along with new dips and spreads for hors d'oeuvres. We left civilization, took in the breathtaking coastline of Maine, felt the breeze on our faces, and had the adventure of a lifetime!

Down-Rig and Drying Sails

The crew has been hard at work down-rigging the schooner and putting on the winter cover. We always say the weather is perfect for exactly what we are doing in this moment in time and the last day of the final trip was no exception. It rained on the way in and with the sails wet, we were not able to remove them for storage. There was plenty of work to do, and the next day, sunny and gorgeous, we hoisted the sails to dry at the dock. What a sight this was to see! The Heritage looked like she was headed up into the wind to make a tack and keep on proudly sailing.

All Hands to the Fore! Once they dried, it was time to remove the sails. They're heavy requiring a line of people to carry them up into the storage bin. This is the fore. As we know it's a little bit lighter than the main, but still enormous as seen here with a line of smiling crew.

Photo Contest We'll be having a photo contest again this winter complete with new ship's store prizes. Send us up to 3 photos from your 2021 Heritage trip to be entered into the contest. Photos might be of the schooner, crew, guests, food, scenery, or of course, the captains. Prizes will be announced soon. Deadline for submissions is December 1st. Bookings are already coming in for the 2022 season. This season may be over, but there's plenty of work to be done. Next season will be here before we know it.
