Play is the "Work" of Childhood
At Family Morning Out we create a happy space for the important job of PLAY in our children's lives.
With young children, the best way to support their learning is to play together. When you watch your children play and you listen to them, show interest in what they are doing, and ask lots of questions you are helping them make sense of the world, and you're supporting their growing confidence, problem-solving, creativity and social skills. Join us to play together:

  • Portsmouth on Mondays thru Oct. 15, 10-11 am, at the Community Campus, 100 Campus Dr.
  • Exeter on Thursdays, 9:30-11 am, at the Parks & Rec building, 32 Court St.
  • Somersworth on Fridays, 9:30-11 am, at Idlehurst School, 46 Stackpole Rd.

Literacy Tip of the Month: The ABCs for Raising a Reader
Ask your child questions about the story you're reading. This helps them make sense of what they are hearing and connect it to their own lives, which builds "reading comprehension."

Book family time to read with your children every day. Build it into your daily routine. It will make a difference. Time spent reading at home is shown to promote later reading success in school!

Create a special reading place in your home, with your child's favorite books within reach. Set the tone that reading is a source of pleasure. Let your kids see you read for fun too!
