VIDEO OF THE MONTH: "Baystate Roads Paying It Forward to Public Works Leaders in Connecticut"
Baystate Roads, the T2 Center’s colleagues at the University of Massachusetts, has developed an exceptional Leadership video series. They have been kind enough to offer our Connecticut Public Works community access to this great work.
The series covers topics on communicating with all levels of management and staff, productive time management skills, team dynamics and building, and maintaining trust and credibility. The best part is they can be viewed at your convenience and it is free.
To accomplish this project, Baystate Roads partnered with Kenya Rutland. Many of you will remember Kenya as one of the favorite instructors in the CT Transportation Leadership Program.
Don’t miss this opportunity for leadership professional development. And for those members of TLP Cohort #7, make sure to view these because there will be a quiz in Module One!
ARTICLE OF THE MONTH: "Conquering a Curse: A Student's UConn Success Story - that Almost Wasn't" by Jaclyn Severance
To look at Prabhas KC ’22 (CLAS) today is to see the very definition of a student leader at UConn.
The senior economics major is a member of the 2021 Leadership Legacy Experience – a program that invites the University’s most exceptional student leaders for an immersive, yearlong leadership enhancement experience.
He’s part of the team at the UConn Consulting Group – a strategy consulting group composed of top students and advised by UConn alumni.
He’s an analyst with Hillside Ventures, UConn’s new student-run venture capital fund, and serves as the student representative on the board of directors of the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, a nonprofit collaboration between the University and the town of Mansfield that oversees the continued development, management, and promotion of Downtown Storrs.
He’s interned for offices across campus, and for the Connecticut insurance giant The Hartford, and was one of the students behind the drive for a UConn-chapter of Camp Kesem – a national organization that works with college students to operate free summer camps for children who have been impacted by a parent’s cancer.

National Public Radio (NPR) published a wonderful series of tips to practice your leadership skills whether you are currently a leader or not. Here is the link to the full NPR article. On September 28, 2021, we kicked off our new Transportation Leadership Program (TLP) Cohort 7 with a full day of activities and learning.
Participants completed a DiSC assessment prior to the class. T2 Instructor Celeste Barrows helped them use their personalized assessments to learn more about their personalities and individual leadership styles and discussed how they can use this information to help become better leaders.
It was a great day for Cohort 7 to meet and start their professional development journey together as a team.
In other TLP Cohort 7 news: We have accepted two more members into the group. They will join their new cohort on November 3rd, while attending the Module One class.
Alexander Klose, Town of East Lyme
Ben North, Town of East Lyme
Please join us and welcoming our new TLP members!
