Featured Property Client: Mary Magiatis
Mary Magiatis is Director of Commercial Operations at Omninet Capital. A graduate of UCLA, Mary obtained her MBA at Cal State Northridge while working in property management and rose to the top of her game at a young age. She is highly skilled and also warm-hearted, a joy to have as a client. We caught up with her recently for a chat.
TLP: How did you get into commercial real estate?
Mary: A staffing agency placed me as a temp administrator at CBRE 15 years ago. I really liked it, and the rest is history!
TLP: What do you love about your job?
Mary: Every single day is an adventure and I love my Omninet team - they’re amazing.
TLP: How do you feel about filming at your properties?
Mary: I support filming and view the relationship as a symbiotic one: film companies get to use real properties (called ‘practical locations’) rather than stages, and as a landlord we get to earn extra income while experiencing the behind-the-scenes efforts involved. It’s exciting, and the properties are always left in great condition.
TLP: What do you do when you’re not working?
Mary: I spend time with my family, slow down and smell the roses (in my backyard!) and travel as much as I can to Greece where my roots are.

What Film/TV Projects Would (and Wouldn’t) Be Impacted by an IATSE Strike
According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Monday, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) revealed that tens of thousands of its members had voted to authorize a strike against the film and television industry. For the first time in the union’s 128-year history, members — over 98 percent of them, in fact — voted to allow a potential nationwide crew work stoppage. Returning to the bargaining table with studios on Tuesday, the union is now armed with a strike authorization following its members' landslide vote. But if a strike happens, not all productions would be affected equally. Click here to read more.
