Message from Our President

Hi Ladies,

I am glad to see that it is Fall and the holiday season is upon us. We will meet this month on October 21st at Benedict's Plantation. I am so excited to announce that St Tammany Parish Health System has a wellness screening bus that they will bring to our meeting. They will tell us all about the bus, and actually do screenings for us! Our speaker will be Rachel Posner, and she will talk about Healthy Eating.

We have extended our Community Partner application to October 21st, because we decided to cancel our September meeting as everyone cleaned up from Ida. Remember, a member of WIP can nominate an applicant as a Community Partner. A link to the Community Partner application is below in the newsletter, and you can see if your organization will qualify.

In October's meeting, members will have an option to select items to buy for our Community Partners' wish lists and bring those items back in November's meeting. Each year in November we wrap items selected from their wish lists and give them to our current Community Partners.

We are also planning our Christmas Party, and the location will be announced soon.

I will see you on October 21st.

Your President,
Julie Taylor

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s 50th Anniversary
Community giving and generosity has always fueled Mary Bird Cancer Center and this year marks not only 50 years of providing comprehensive care to cancer patients, but also 50 years of generous philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, schools, and many others.

These decades of giving have provided us with resources to surround each patient with the most comprehensive and individualized care available in the region.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center is hosting a special fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $50,000+ to support cancer patients and their families across the region.

While we don't have a major event until the 17th Annual Crawfish Cookoff in April, we do have a few ways you can support the HH.
On November 19th we will host Hospice House Lip Sync Challenge. You can participate as either a performer or audience. Good times are sure to be had!
We also have two raffles; one for 100 bottles of wines and liquor and one for Saints tickets.
Finally, you can own your very own Hospice House! Houses come in two sizes and are primed and ready for you to customize them.
Call us or message us for more information on any of the ways to support our ongoing care for end of life patients.
