Florida’s Adventure Coast is Open for Business

Florida’s Adventure Coast, Brooksville-Weeki Wachee was spared any significant impact from Hurricane Ian. We are grateful that we can report all our attractions, county parks, preserves, boat ramps, and trails are open for your enjoyment. Businesses in our destination are open and welcoming visitors.

While Hurricane Ian has left our shores unscathed, many of our neighbors and friends have been directly impacted by the storm, the effects of which will be felt for a long time. We can all work together to help those Floridians impacted by Hurricane Ian through this difficult time of need. If you would like to send aid to those in the Sunshine State impacted by the storm, please visit FloridaDisasterFund.org or Red Cross.

Step Back in Time at the Brooksville Founders’ Day Festival

Founded in 1856, Brooksville is a community with less than 10,000 residents, where visitors are greeted by hand-painted murals, historic buildings and brick-covered streets, shaded by ancient oaks laden with Spanish moss. With its history and small-town charm, there are plenty of reasons to love Brooksville, not the least of which is its friendly residents!

Celebrating 75 Years of Mermaid Magic

A Conversation with Weeki Wachee's Original Mermaid

When the park first opened its doors on October 13, 1947, Newton Perry called upon the Aquabelles to perform as the very first group of mermaids, and Dianne Wyatt McDonald was among them. We sit down with Dianne as she recalls her time at the park and her place in Florida's tourism history. You can view the "Mermaid Memories" playlist on our YouTube Channel.
