Horn’s Gloucester Ace Hardware recently opened in the Courthouse district of Gloucester and is excited to be part of the vibrant Gloucester business community.

In 2012 the Horns opened their first Ace Hardware in Kilmarnock. Horn’s Northern Neck Ace Hardware was quickly followed by four more locations. Including the newest store, Horn’s Gloucester Ace Hardware. They are excited to bring the Horn’s brand of locally owned hardware stores to the Gloucester community. At Horn’s they pride themselves on their level of customer service and the variety of merchandise they carry. Often times you will hear them say they are more than your average hardware store and hope when you visit you will find that true. They are looking forward to meeting and serving the community for years to come.

After managing Coastal Country Kitchen for almost four months, Forest Gary will be moving the restaurant.

The establishment, which is currently in The Point Shoppes, is relocating to the York River Crossing Shopping Center and will be renamed Coastal Kitchen.

National Grant for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses

A total of $25,000 will be awarded to 25 veteran-owned and-led small businesses nationally.

Inspired by Founders First CEO, Kim Folsom’s brother, U.S. Navy veteran Stephen L. Tadlock, the $25,000 fund will make investments of $1000 each to 25 veterans who are running employer-based small businesses across the country.

Deadline to apply is October 18, 2022. Grant finalists will be announced on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022.

Small Business Owners: Help Improve What’s Known About Small Businesses

Owners and key financial decisionmakers of for-profit businesses, share your recent experiences. Did your business seek financing such as loans or lines of credit in the last 12 months? How would you rate the financial condition of your business?

The Virginia SBDC Network is partnering with the Federal Reserve to conduct a Small Business Credit Survey. By taking the survey, you contribute to data that directly informs the Fed, federal government agencies, service providers, policymakers, and others—ultimately benefitting your business and other businesses like yours. Take the 10-minute survey now.

The survey is open to businesses currently in operation, those recently closed, and those about to launch. All responses are confidential.

The survey closes November 4, 2022.

SMALL BUSINESS INCENTIVES

The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors, Economic Development Authority and Economic Development Department are dedicated to promoting and improving the economic health and quality of life in Gloucester. These incentive programs are here to support, promote and encourage small businesses by providing assistance with interior and exterior improvements, advertising and website design work.

Property Improvement: Assistance with renovations and build-out for new and expanding businesses. Projects covered in this incentive include new floors, ceiling tiles, windows, doors, painting and other interior improvements.

Facade Improvement: This program is designed to provide assistance to property or business owners for exterior façade improvements, new signage or landscaping.

Co-op Advertising Grant: This program supports advertising and promotional activities.

E-Commerce Matching Grant Program: Offers aid with new website design and development.

All businesses applying for Economic Development Incentives will need to submit a completed and signed IRS form W9.
