"Top Shelf" Food Drive happening now!
|
|
 |
|
Our monthly food drive is off to a strong start.
Using the top shelf of the kitchen closet, our Top Shelf Food Drive is already helping to address worries of financial stress and hunger in our area.
Our goal each month is to bring a selection of non-perishable goods and to quickly distribute them where needed.
|
|
Items you can bring each month to support the Food Drive
- Canned soups (preferably with pull-open tops)
- Boxed soup kits, macaroni & cheese, etc.
- Rice dinners, pasta dinners, meal helpers, etc.
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, etc.)
- Instant oatmeal
- Flavor mixes / Kool aid
- Instant pudding and jello mixes
Besides bringing items to the Top Shelf, please let us know of individuals in need and help us get these items to them.
|
|
We would like to mention another helpful event for our neighbors in need:
The Coffee County Fairgrounds in Manchester will host a One Day of Hope event on Saturday, October 1st, from 9 am to 2 p.m.
The event will include groceries, clothing, and medical screenings.
We will be on the lookout for other opportunities such as these in the coming months.

Important Message from ERD

September 29, 2022
Episcopal Relief & Development is in close contact with Episcopal dioceses in the southern United States and Cuba in response to Hurricane Ian, which made landfall in Cuba on Tuesday and in southwest Florida on Wednesday.
In Cuba, the category 3 storm killed two people and knocked out power to the entire country.
“The Episcopal Church in Cuba has mobilized its local disaster committees who are assessing the damage, and potential responses, in their communities,” said Kellie McDaniel, Senior Facilitator, Training & International Development, Episcopal Relief & Development. “We pray for the people of Cuba who are living through several recent disasters.”
Hurricane Ian intensified to a category 4 storm before making landfall again on Wednesday near Port Charlotte, Florida with winds of 150 m.p.h. As of Thursday morning, more than two million people were without power and a storm surge of up to 12 feet caused severe flooding. The storm also caused flooding in the Florida Keys after heavy rain on Tuesday night. It is expected to reach Georgia and South Carolina by Friday.
Dioceses in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina have been preparing this week by checking in with communities in the storm’s path, testing emergency communications systems and coordinating with area agencies.
“Our partners in the southern United States have deep roots in the community and are using their relationships to assess the needs caused by Hurricane Ian,” said Lura Steele, Program Officer, US Disaster Program, Episcopal Relief & Development. “We stand ready to assist in the coming days and weeks.”
Please pray for the people impacted by the storm. Donations to the Hurricane Relief Fund will support Episcopal Relief & Development and its partners as they respond.
Please note that St. Agnes' will send a financial contribution to Episcopal Relief and Development this month on behalf of the congregation. We encourage others to contribute as well. We will also be contact with friends and family in the affected areas to see if other response is needed.

Updates from our extended family
|
|
 |
|
Please note the following updates and concerns from members of our extended church family:
Nancy and Lee Glenn were able to attend church on September 18th for the first time in several weeks! It was a blessing to see them!
Linda Hutton had a medical procedure last week and recovered quickly; however, she asks for our continuing prayers as she undergoes treatment for skin cancer.
Peter Hutton was admitted to St. Thomas West following a scheduled arterial-gram. Shortly thereafter he underwent a triple bypass surgery. Although it was an unplanned series of events, he is grateful that a serious problem was identified and corrected. As of September 30th he is still a patient at St. Thomas, but will hopefully return home early next week. Al of our prayers are greatly appreciated!
Bill Keller was able to attend our Commemoration Service for Queen Elizabeth II on September 14th. He is hoping to feel well enough to attend some other services in the fall season and continue to reconnect with his church family.
Kathy Owens sent word that her family is fine in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. Power has been restored in her area, though areas near her home are in a very sad condition at this time.
Steve Pearson attended church on September 25th for the first time in five months! He is feeling a little better each day. Beside attending church he is able to drive short distances again. Every little bit counts!

St. Agnes' Remembers HRM QEII
|
|
 |
|
The church family at St. Agnes' gathered on Wednesday, September 14th, for an evening service to remember HRM Queen Elizabeth II.
Linda led the service following the Burial rite in the Book of Common Prayer as well as a celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
In place of a traditional homily, Jarod read an article by Archbishop Rowan Williams, 104th Archbishop of Canterbury, entitled "Queen Elizabeth, Servant of God".
The link to the full article is here:
The simple and beautiful service was adorned with a memorial table topped with a flower bouquet, a framed photo of Her Majesty, and a commemorative plate from her Coronation.
We had a meaningful time together in worship and in remembrance of the Queen's witness to the faith of the church throughout the world.
