Dear Catechists and Pastoral Assistants of Formation in the Faith,

The month of September was a month of great activity for our programs because in the parishes registrations began as well as classes.

First, we want to welcome the new faith formation assistants who received their orientation at the Retreat Center. Thank you for your participation and remember that our office is available to accompany you and offer you support.

I had the opportunity to visit some parishes and celebrate with the community the commission and blessing for our catechists by celebrating catechetical Sunday with the theme: "This is my Body that is given for you."

We also offered our first Confirmation retreat at camp Don Bosco with the participation of 60 middle school students and the Catechetical Meeting in Spanish with 98 participants accompanied by our Bishop Monsignor Eusebio Elizondo who presided the opening Mass in the parish of Santa Luisa in Bellevue. It is a cause for celebration to see so many people active in our programs dedicated to providing a personal encounter with Jesus.

Finally, I ask you to pray for our colleagues who will not be able to continue offering their pastoral work due to family or health situations. That's why the Archdiocesan Commission on Faith Formation offered some suggestions for beginning to form the leaders of the future. Thank you for your evangelizing and catechetical work.

Kind regards

Carlos Carrillo, Director of Faith Formation

Each October the Church in the United States celebrates Respect Life Month, and the first Sunday of October is observed as Respect Life Sunday. As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.
