OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROGRAMS AND YOUTH

Millions of professionals and volunteers work with young people every day in the many settings where youth play, learn, and grow outside of the school day. Yet, we have little collective information about this essential workforce. We want to know more about those who are still in the youth fields and those who left, so that we can explore, define, and elevate this collective workforce and their work with youth.
|
|
We are looking to fill 10-12 Full-Time Positions to focus on Nevada out-of-school time (OST) programs by working with key partners to develop, lead, coordinate, and drive collaboration, quality, and advocacy initiatives. These are temporary, grant-funded positions.
|

"What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?" Art Contest
|
The Nevada State Treasurer's Office -College Savings Division is holding their 2nd annual art contest that encourages Nevada students in Pre-K through 12th grade to use their artistic skills and creativity to produce a work of art demonstrating what they would like their future career to be, all while getting them and their families excited about post-secondary education.
Three winners from each grade level will receive a $1,000, $500, or $250 prize deposited into an SSGA 529 college savings account.
Submissions for the Contest are being accepted now through Friday, October 14th.

Afterschool field creates resources to help support the mental health of young people
|
With year 3 of the COVID-19 pandemic now underway, mental health is recognized as one of the largest issues among youth today. The Georgia Statewide Afterschool Network (GSAN) has released a Behavioral Health Toolkit for Afterschool Programs. The article also outlines resources from other states, that have been advocating for youth's mental health.

Young Entrepreneur Pitch Challenge is a simple set of activities that help kids learn creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and presentation skills. Pitch Challenge teaches kids critical workforce readiness skills and helps develop a mindset for 21st-century careers whether or not they become an entrepreneur.
