For a limited time, local government employees may be eligible for expanded federal student loan forgiveness. To take advantage of this opportunity, employees must act by October 31.

Last October, the DOE announced a temporary waiver to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program that allows borrowers to receive credit for past payments on federal education loans that would not otherwise qualify for PSLF.

To get credit for these payments, borrowers must consolidate their federal student loans into a Direct Loan and submit a PSLF form through the PSLF Help Tool by October 31.

Sean Reid transferred to Health Department this September! Before accepting the position of Health Inspector, Sean worked for the Town of Nantucket at the Sewer Department for over 2 years. For the majority of his time with the Sewer Department, he operated the Sconset water treatment plant, using biology and critical problem-solving techniques to optimize water treatment quality.

Sean has over 17 years of restaurant experience. Most recently with Island Kitchen as Kitchen Manager from 2016-2020. He has continued to be involved in large catering parties such as the Boston Pops, Summer Groove, and countless on-island weddings.

He grew up in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Queensbury, NY. He attended Johnson & Wales University from 2005-2007, and he has been on Nantucket since 2013.

Sean and his partner Anastasia have 2 daughters. Her son Andrew is also an important part of their family who Sean is very proud of, he just started high school this year. They are excited for what the future holds for their family and they look forward to that future staying on Nantucket.

Sean is excited to be a part of the Health Department and looks forward to the process and the experiences along the way.
