Hello Circle Members,

I'm excited for an active month in the life of The Circle and hope you are too! Thank you to everyone who renewed their membership. The deadline to do so is October 14.

I'm going to share something because you may feel this way too; between family, work, The Circle, and other volunteer roles I feel a bit burned out and spread thin. As I try to navigate it all I remind myself that life ebbs and flows. I happen to be in one of the busy times. Maybe you are too. More importantly, I am staying focused on why I think The Circle is valuable and worth my time. In our very online world civic organizations like The Circle that bring people together are a treasure. They are a balm to loneliness and isolation. Serving a cause bigger then ourselves creates purpose in our lives.

I realize Mr. Rodgers, in his cardigan and sneakers, is not a particularly glamorous figure, but he reminds us that "we live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem. Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes." May his wise words sustain us all.

There are many different ways you can help sustain the work of The Circle this month. Remember those recent emails about the Golf Tournament and Volunteering at City of Refuge? We are still looking for golfers, sponsors, and volunteers. Consider soliciting purse donations for Bags and Bubbles, and begin inviting friends to the event. Finally, because getting together and away from our screens is good for our well being, plan to attend our fall general meeting AT City of Refuge on Sunday 11/12.

No one is expected to do everything - although we have a few members who do. I am amazed by their commitment and energy, but would never ask all of you to you to do something I don't do myself. All of the small things we do add up. My message to our recruits is that The Circle brings people together to multiply the impact of philanthropy and volunteering. Join me in being a factor, part of the multiplicand, for the work of The Circle.

What could be more fun than an evening shopping for elegant handbags with a glass of champagne in your hand in a room full of your favorite friends? Only one thing I can think of!! Doing it all while raising money for some very deserving children at the City of Refuge!

Bags and Bubbles, The Circle’s exciting new fundraiser, combines a purse auction with a cocktail party that adds up to an evening of FUN that you won’t want to miss. Join us on Wednesday, November 9, from 5:00- 7:30 PM at Atlanta Country Club. Tickets are only $75 and include a glass of bubbly, appetizers, a silent auction, games, and a few other surprises!

Please buy your tickets now and ask some friends to join you! We need all of our members to participate to make Bags and Bubbles a magnificent success!!

Ladies,

I would love to have you on the Gala Committee. We will start meeting as a "think tank". Circle members are so creative and have a lot of amazing ideas. You can just join the group to offer ideas or you can offer ideas and help in some areas. Nothing will be overwhelming. The only expectation is to be a part of the Circle collaborative effort to make this 2023 Gala a success to help the City of Refuge and the Linda Gross Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Please send any Circle Correspondence to [email protected] for announcements of births, loss of loved ones, outstanding events or illnesses. Please include the individual's address so the corresponding secretary can send the appropriate correspondence. Also, indicate if the information should be posted in the newsletter.
