"I came into this not knowing a lot about non-profits, grants or philanthropy, or even knowing what philanthropy meant. I learned about foundations and the grant making process. I would recommend this to other girls, to get to meet others from different schools and how to be a part of giving back in your community. The Women's Fund is amazing and I'm so glad I attended."

The third annual Girls Investing in Girls was a great success! Thank you to all the volunteers, speakers, school sponsors and students that participated! This empowering event brought together young girls to explore the world of philanthropy, raise awareness about nonprofit and charitable organizations, discover their personal passions for charitable work, and grant funds to a local nonprofit serving women and girls. The Girls Investing in Girls (GIG) workshop introduced the concept of philanthropy to young women from eleven high schools across the tri-county area. The participants voted, after two very impactful presentations, and $5,000 was awarded to Girls Light Our Way (GLOW) for their "Sorority Girls" STEM project. We extend our gratitude to our generous sponsors, Kari Burg-Braggs with Morgan Stanley as our presenting sponsor, and additional support from the Peoria County Regional Office of Education, National Association of Women Business Owners Central Illinois, and Women in Leadership of Central Illinois. | | | |
