Time is running out to become a member of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library this year. The Friends of the South Pasadena Library is fortunate to have supporters like you. Please renew your annual membership or donate. Donations are down this year compared to last year, and WE NEED YOU!


Your membership and donation will:


  • Fund early childhood and K-12 services
  • Purchase books and digital resources
  • Support the community with public events and programs such as the wildly popular Summer Reading Program
  • And grant members, with a minimum of $20 donation by Nov 30th, EARLY admission to our annual Holiday Book Sale in December!



Your support will ensure that the Library continues to serve you and others for many years to come.


National Friends of the Libraries Week is October 15-21 this year. Celebrate the week by becoming a member! Join online or stop by the library lobby to pick up an envelope to pay by check.

Monthly Silent Auction 

The Friends of the Library Bookstore’s October Silent Auction features a variety of items, including beautiful art books and vintage & collectible books.


Of local interest is Trees of the California Landscape, by Charles R. Hatch. This abundantly illustrated, easy-to-use volume is a complete guide to California’s trees. It provides a comprehensive compendium of 107 native and 311 ornamental species of trees in California.

A vintage set is Roald Dahl’s classics, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie and the Great Glass ElevatorPublished in 1972, these adventures of Charlie Bucket are in very good condition.

An art book for sale is Frank Lloyd Wright Natural Design, Organic ArchitectureThis book explores Wright’s lessons on how climate, sustainability, sunlight, modern technology, local materials, and passive environmental controls can become the inspiration for excellent design

The following auction items will be on view at the South Pasadena Public Library in a glass case with numbered bidding cards displayed on top. Winning bidders will be notified by telephone at the end of the auction. Click on the link below to view a catalog containing details and images of all the books available for bidding.

Auction Details

Steven Vanhauwaert & Cecilia Tsan will perform Fauré, Brahms, Beethoven, Debussy, Nan Schwartz, and John Williams at the South Pasadena Library Community Room. 


The Restoration Concerts, part of The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, has a goal to bring world-class music at an affordable price. Net proceeds from the concerts benefit the South Pasadena Library and Community Room.

Program Information

We are seeking passionate and committed community members to serve on the board of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library.


The mission of the 72-year-old nonprofit organization is to raise funds and increase public awareness in support of the services and programs of the library. Board members operate a used bookstore and hold book sales, organize concerts, fund children’s and adult programming, and perform vital administrative functions in support of the South Pasadena Public Library.


The Board is comprised of 13 positions including president, vice president, secretary, CFO, operations, membership, and more! The group meets on the third Thursday of each month.

The Last Chance Book Sale on the first floor is open during Library Hours. Last Chance items are available for 50¢.
