High School Teachers:

NOVA Science Studio 2023-2024

Teach high school students how to make engaging videos about science stories in their communities!

Registration for the 2023-2024 NOVA Science Studio (NSS) program is now open to all eligible schools and youth programs. The NSS is NOVA’s youth program designed to teach science journalism to high school students aged 14-18. In the program, educators guide students through a Next Generation Science Standards- and Common Core State Standards-aligned curriculum with lessons and activities on science journalism, video production, and digital media literacy in a 6- to 8-month program.

Communities

Storytime in a Box: Apply Now

Libraries are invited to apply to IdahoPTV Education's Storytime in a Box program.

Here’s how it works: Libraries apply, and we select mostly small, rural libraries in greatest need of resources and help—those which have shown themselves to be a big part of the community. Each month, we carefully curate a box of storytime goodies—around $50 worth materials including three children’s books, manipulatives and games, art supplies and sometimes a puppet—and send them out to libraries every month for about 4 months.

The contents are designed so that parents and caregivers participate in the storytime with the child. And each box a library receives also includes an activity for families to do together at home.

Storytime in a Box, now in its fourth year, is funded entirely by donations to Idaho Public Television.

To apply, contact Brady Kissel at brady.kissel@idahoptv.org.

New Podcast Series: Jamming on the Job

Jamming on the Job is a brand-new, multi-generational, music-inspired podcast for kids ages 4-8 and their parents and caregivers, starring Christina Sanabria and Andrés Salguero, the Latin Grammy Award-winning kids’ music duo known as 123 Andrés. Join Christina and Andrés as they tour the country and perform songs about the world of work. Each place they go, they meet a grown-up with a different kind of job who helps them along their way.
