Library Calendar of Events


Join us as we step back in time at the library and learn the history of Fort Michilimackinac. This informative presentation led by fort volunteers will touch on topics such as the formation of the fort, the occupation and purpose of the historic fort, the British Royal Artillery's presence at the fort and the role it played. Also, information regarding civilian life and colonial clothing will be discussed. This is a free presentation that will appeal to adults, young adults, teens and anyone who finds local history interesting. Registration is not required.

Join us as we welcome author Melissa F. Kaelin, Thursday October 12th at 6:00 p.m. for a book talk and discussion. Learn about weather conditions and forecasts that make viewing the Northern Lights in the Great Lakes Region a greater possibility. This is a free event, registration is not required.


Lord of the Gourd @ the Library

On Tuesday, October 24th visit the library anytime between 5:00-7:45 p.m. to witness a master carver in action. Get ideas, tips and inspiration from a master gourd carver just in time for pumpkin season. His impressive animated carved faces will surely make you grin. This is a free event, registration is not required.

This is a free event, registration is not required. Wear your costume if you wish We will have a photo backdrop!


Our haunted house is designed for children however, some elements could be scary to young ones. Parental discretion is advised.

On Saturday, October 28th from 1:00-2:30 pm, kids 8-18 are invited to the library studio for a Halloween 'Zine pop-up workshop! This free 90-minute workshop will have kids creating their own Halloween-themed 'zine. A 'zine is a mini-magazine which can be imaginative or informational. Participants will learn about the construction and use of 'zines while making their own 1-page version. All materials will be provided. Kids are also welcome to bring their own preferred art supplies as well. This popup workshop is entirely free!

Monday Drawing class four week session with Ms. Kimberly begins October 9th at 10:00 a.m. $20 fee includes instruction for four classes and all supplies. Ages 9 and up welcome. Sign up required please (231)627-2381.

Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to experience the magic of a story, a sing-along song, a dance move or two and crafting with our children’s librarian. Preschool Story Time at the library happens on Tuesdays at 10:15 in our children’s room through October 31st. Ms. Nancy is also available for class visits, daycare visits or other groups that would like to enjoy a story and some fun. Please make arrangements with Ms. Nancy directly by calling the library at (231) 627-2381 or stopping by the library to schedule a date and time that works for everyone.

Library patrons can now download the PAC2 app to their smartphone or tablet and have instant access to our library catalog at their fingertips. The app has all the features of our online catalog. Browse our collection, place holds and renew books online. The PAC2 app can store your library card so if you leave home without your card just open the app select your card and scan to check out. We have partnered with Michigan Department of Health & Human Services to provide free rapid test kits to our community. Stock up on kits for yourself or claim up to five per household. If you are feeling unwell or have a confirmed exposure please park in our curbside pick-up parking, call the library & someone will run some kits out to you.

The Book Nook is Open!


The Friends of the Cheboygan Area Public Library host a used book sale twice a week! Find some new-to-you books on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:30am to 2pm in the Book Nook bookstore on the Library's Lower Level.
