UPCOMING CAMPAIGN: GivingTuesday

We are excited to announce that our nonprofit will be participating in GivingTuesday, officially dated on November 28th this year. GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the power of social media to raise awareness and funds for important causes. Zosia Ettenberg, the amazing executive director of Pos-Abilities, has her birthday coming up on November 16th. This year, she is asking for donation contributions to this campaign.

We are raising funds to support our mission of supporting and making life more accessible for individuals with disabilities in our community. Accessibility devices and equipment are extremely expensive. They can be unaffordable and difficult to get. Langley Pos-Abilities is here to help. As a non-profit, however, we rely on the funds and donations we receive. This year, we are joining the GivingTuesday campaign to support this mission.

If you can consider contributing to this cause, please CLICK HERE to donate. Donations can be provided now until the end of November.

URGENTLY NEEDED: MANUAL WHEELCHAIRS & WALKERS

We have a waitlist and need donations. These pieces of equipment are absolutely essential for many living with a disability. Let's help make life more accessible for members in our community who need these items. If you are able to donate, know someone else who can, or can spread the word about this area of need we would greatly appreciate it.

Please CLICK HERE for the donation form, or contact us directly at 604 - 961 - 0117.

Personal Assistive Devices Program

Through our P.A.D. Program, it is possible to request a personal assistive piece of equipment. If you would like to browse available equipment, please visit our catalog. Please note that this is in the process of being updated with photos and availability, so please call for confirmation until then.

Information about requesting or donating equipment can be found on our website.

Through this program, we aim to provide disability-awareness education.

TOAD Program

We have developed several programs which promote understanding of and increase empathy towards persons with disabilities.

Ideal as team-building exercises, employee or management retreats, school educational experiences, seminars, in-services, or lunch and learn events, these activities are fun, interactive and eye-opening.

PUSH FOR ACCESSIBILITY: MAPPING PROJECT

Langley Pos-Abilities is engaged in a Mapping Program. The purpose is to enable access to public buildings for anyone who might have challenges, such as seniors, mothers with strollers, and people with disabilities. Disabilities include mobility issues, hearing loss, blindness, and many other conditions requiring assistive devices.

This can be easily accessed on any device (laptop, phone, iPad). We are encouraging all members of our community to take time and review different locations you go to in terms of 3 main accessibility features: mobility, vision, and hearing.

Accessible or Not?

Watch this video to learn about how important it is for people in wheelchairs and scooters to have proper accessible parking. Lack of proper parking in the right location can put them at risk or restricts access to their vehicle. Accessible parking isn't about convenience, it's a requirement.

Langley Pos-Abilities Society is grateful to have collaborated with SPARC BC on this project.

Accessibility Audit Program

Langley Pos-Abilities will assess your workplace accessibility, offer you a detailed report, and if needed, suggest ideas to improve your score. There are many low-cost or cost-free ways you can make your workplace a welcoming environment for people with disabilities.

Contact us today to receive an audit and assistance in making your facility more accessible for all.
