A Note From Anne...

Well, all of the buzz around us right now is the road construction! I will tell you that I was sick to my stomach and could not breathe when they said there would be no parking for 6 weeks. I do feel bad for the man that delivered the news because I kind of lost it and raised my voice to him. When I finally settled down I apologized and said that they had better give him a big raise or bonus for being the deliverer of bad news.

So the next thing is how do we get through the next 6 weeks. It will be a challenge but we will survive it (I hope!). We have been brainstorming to come up with ideas. We will be doing more Facebook posts and lives to let you know what new items are coming into the shop. You can order by phone or online. We will make arrangements to meet you "somewhere convenient" so you don't get tangled up in the construction. Mail order is always an option.

For Black Hills Quilt Guild Members, if you want something and order it either online or by phone by Monday at noon, we will deliver it to the Guild Meeting on Tuesday morning and we will honor the Guild Discount.

Our back alley will also be an option to deliver and pick up machines or packages. The access to the alley is off of 6th St, right by the Elks theater.

We are going forwards with our Machine Owners Classes for the month of October. We know it is going to be difficult but we will try to minimize the hassle. We have carts we can bring to your vehicle to get your machine into the shop. You can also drive through the ally to drop it off, then park.

Watch for updates about Strip Club for October.

We are putting together the 12 weeks of Christmas which will start on Sunday October 1, 2023. Each Sunday for the rest of the year we will be running one week only discounts on different departments.

Road Construction

Dear valued customers, we have just received notification that the parking on the north side of the street in front of our store will be closed for the next six weeks due to construction. We understand that this will make parking a challenge, especially with the ongoing building construction across from us. We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to make your shopping experience as convenient as possible during this time.

We will be offering curbside pickup via the back alley, so please feel free to call us at 605-355-0178 to place your order and arrange for pickup. Our website is also available 24/7 for online orders, and we are currently offering free shipping on orders of $75 or more.

Black Hills Quilter's Guild meets on Tuesday mornings if you need something from the shop you can call us or order online by noon on Monday. We will deliver your order to the guild meeting Tuesday morning. The usual Tuesday guild discount will be honored.

We are excited to announce that in addition to our regular content, we will be hosting daily Facebook Live sessions! These sessions will feature special deals and product demos that you won't want to miss. Tune in every day to learn about new products, see them in action, and snag some exclusive discounts. Follow us on Facebook to stay updated on when these sessions will be taking place. We can't wait to connect with you!

Collage Class

Dates & Times

September 16, 2023 1pm-3pm

October 7, 2023 9:30am-3pm

Cost: $30 for both classes

Instructor: Melissa Grote

Join Melissa Grote and jump into the creative world of Collage. This will be a two part class. The first class will focus on supplies, patterns, fabric and technique. You do not need your sewing machine.

The second class is 3 weeks later giving you time to do your "homework", and getting your project ready to assemble.

You pick your pattern. We have many Lauri Heine patterns to chose from at the shop. All of the supplies that you need for the class are 20% off after you have paid the class fee. The fee is $30.00 and covers both classes.

Machine Embroidery Club

Date: October 21, 2023

Time: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Cost: FREE

Facilitator: Carol Kohl

No machine needed bring your tips, tricks, and problems to our new Machine Embroidery Club. All levels welcome, this club is a sounding board to share what we know and what we want to know. Come with ideas for future meetings.

Machine Quilting on Your Domestic Machine

Date: October 14, 2023

Time: 1:00 pm-4:00 pm

Cost: $25

Instructor: Cathy Koester

This is a beginner class for free motion quilting on your domestic machine. We’ll learn how to prepare the quilt sandwich, tips for putting it under your needle and we’ll learn a few different all-over stitch designs to use. It is a one time 3 hour class.

Date: September 9, 23, 30 & October 7, 2023

Time: 11:30 am-3:00 pm

Cost: $80

Date: February 14

Time: 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Cost: $20.00

Mitered corners don't have to be as scarry as we think they are. They are good for strips on your borders or repeating pattern for borders. So come and learn how to make them.

Service Notes

When you drop a machine off for service we will send you an email when it's complete. If you think your machine might be done but haven't received and email please check your spam or junk mail folder. If you see an email from Quilt Connection please mark it as not Spam. You should then get emails from us in your inbox from that point forward.

New Machine Owners Classes

If you purchased your machine from Quilt Connection the classes are free.

There is a $40.00 charge if you purchased somewhere else and want the lessons.

There will still be some safety measures in place. We are limiting the class size to 4 people so everyone can feel comfortable.

Please bring your own machine. We can help you bring the machine into the shop if you need assistance and will carry the machine down and up the stairs for you.

Please do not take these classes out of order. You will get more out of the classes and learn a lot more it you take them in order. If your machine is not an embroidery machine and is sewing only you will need to take just the first two classes. We will be holding these classes every month, so if you have a conflict with a date, you will be able to catch up the following month.
