Pride of the Valley

Greetings, Parents and Families of Steubenville High School,

Welcome to the busy and exciting month of October! Fall has arrived, and with it, a change in the weather. We are back in full swing at SHS and quickly approaching the end of the first nine weeks. I'm pleased to announce the start of our highly beneficial 'Big Red Helps' Tutoring program, which is now in session during the school day. Don’t hesitate to contact your student’s guidance counselor to help get into the tutoring program. It's an excellent opportunity for our students to receive additional support and enrichment.

Please remember that your child’s assigned classroom teachers are still available before and after school for extra help. We strongly encourage all students to seek assistance if they are falling behind and to maintain their focus if they are already on track. Our top priority is ensuring that every student has the support they need to succeed.

Everyone at Steubenville High School appreciates and cherishes the opportunity to educate your child(ren). It is truly an honor and privilege that we take seriously.

Thank you for your constant support, and as always...GO BIG RED!

Please review the calendar of important dates for more information about events at Steubenville High School.

A Few Things - We Did Last Month

The SHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) hosted the "See You at the Pole" event. Approximately 175 students voluntarily participated in the student-led Day of Prayer event around the school flagpole, located in front of our Multipurpose building. Our students prayed for their teachers, administration, and our nation.

This was the largest turnout ever at SHS for this event!

Thank you to former Auburn and Olympic basketball player Ruthie Bolton for her positive message. The students enjoyed listening to her rise to Olympic gold and her story of never giving up. Also, thank you to the OVAC and SportsWorld for providing outstanding speakers.

Shout out to SHS golfer Christopher Elliott for earning ALL-OVAC 5A honors for the second year in a row with his score of 80 at Trent Jones Golf Course.

Congratulations to our 2024 homecoming queen, Analesa Perdue.

The Principal’s Advisory Council, comprised of 36 Steubenville High School student leaders, met with me today in the new STEM conference room for the first time this school year. It’s going to be a productive year with this leadership team! I believe in allowing students to have their voices heard—VOICE MATTERS! Students learned their role in understanding that solutions matter! This group of students will affect change!

SHS Senior Sunrise for the Class of 2025 was a huge success!

We had our largest turnout ever as students woke up early to gather at the stadium and watch the sunrise with their senior classmates.

It was a time to celebrate their success and make lasting memories.

A big thank you to Tim Hortons and all the students who provided donuts and hot chocolate.
