New Titles Out This Month

There are many wonderful books out this month including new fantasy selections, a new thriller by Louise Erdrich, book #19 in Louise Penny's popular Inspector Gamache series, Ina Garten's new memoir, a new young adult novel by Jason Reynolds and a great new dragon series for middle schoolers.

Fiction / Fantasy

By H. G. Parry, author of The Magician's Daughter

This is one of my favorite books for October!!

Three Starred Reviews!

Clover enters Camford, a school of magic, hoping to learn enough to heal her brother who was cursed by a fairie on a WWI battlefield when a fairie door was opened. In the aftermath, all doors to fairie country were sealed. She feels out of place at the school but soon finds true friendship in a group led by a wealthy student. Years later, while working as a professor at the school, dangerous secrets come to light and Clover and her friends must try to keep the world from breaking and close the last fairie door.

Nonfiction / Memoir

Here, for the first time, Ina Garten presents an intimate, entertaining, and inspiring account of her remarkable journey. Ina's gift is to make everything look easy, yet all her accomplishments have been the result of hard work, audacious choices, and exquisite attention to detail. In her unmistakable voice (no one tells a story like Ina), she brings her past and her process to life in a high-spirited and no-holds-barred memoir that chronicles decades of personal challenges, adventures (and misadventures) and unexpected career twists, all delivered with her signature combination of playfulness and purpose.

Fiction / Historical Fantasy

You are going to love this warm and cozy historical fantasy that has a small touch of romance!

Three starred reviews!

In 1800's Chicago, three sisters run a tearoom where women come to socialize and discover their futures in the bottom of their teacups. But do the sisters know their own fates? And are they destined to stay together or go their separate ways?

"Sivinski's novel is positively delightful...The result is a tale of family, love, and the things that make a house a home. A delightfully sweet and cozy novel that's as comforting as a warm cup of tea." --Kirkus, starred review

Fiction / Historical Mystery / ages 8-12

A stunning collaboration between award-winning and bestselling authors Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinkin, this middle grade historical adventure follows two siblings at Bletchley Park, the home of WWII codebreakers, as they try to unravel a mystery surrounding their mother's disappearance.

Book 1 in a new series.

This is really good!

Starred Review from Publishers Weekly

When Lunar hides out in the restricted militarized zone on Mars, he finds a secret elite group of teen soldiers who are training to be dragonriders and meets Dread, the newest dragon on Mars. I loved this new sci-fi/fantasy filled with great characters, adventure, interesting world building, and lots of dragons!!

Fiction / Young Adult / ages 14+

In a series of moments spanning two years, seventeen-year-old Neon navigates the progression of his relationship with Aria, culminating in a case of the jitters as the two intend to take the next big step in their relationship.
