67th Annual Fall Festival on October 11th-13th
The 67th Salisbury Fall Festival will be held on October 11, 12, and 13. The annual event is a home-town celebration for our community and attracts hundreds and hundreds of visitors to our charming Northwest Corner. It’s also an opportunity for many of our non-profit organizations to raise money and showcase their activities.
New this year is the “Salisbury Sip & Stroll” on Friday evening to help kick off the weekend. Enjoy long-time favorites events, such as the Quilt Show, book sales, bake sales, Prime Rib Dinner at the Lakeville Hose, and SWSA’s Brew-Ski Fest. Kids of all ages will enjoy the magic shows, face painting, hay rides, and dance performances by Martha Graham and Blue Studio dancers. In need of repairs to small household or personal items? Then sign up for the free Pop-Up Repair Shop.
This year there’s lots of food and beverage options--food tents offering hot dogs and comfort food, and food trucks featuring crepes, lobster rolls, paninis, and ice cream, plus Sweet Williams and Provisions. Enjoy live music? The Joint Chiefs and Salisbury Band will perform, along with a couple of other musical groups. And people can again vote for their favorite scarecrows—the winners will be awarded cash prizes.
During the festival, many booths will line Main Street....local artisans will set up tents on the White Hart lawn….lots of games and crafts will be held on the Library lawn on Saturday......and the Pet Parade will be held in Lakeville on Sunday. The weekend will be filled with fun activities for friends and families of all ages.
For a complete listing of activities, special events, and participating groups, go to www.salisburyfallfestival.org or follow on Facebook and Instagram.

The 15th Annual Brew-Ski Fest returns to the Salisbury Ski Jumps Sunday, October 13th with music, pumpkins, cornstalks and nearly 40 craft breweries offering visitors well over 200 examples of their best brews. The popular event is part of Salisbury's Fall Festival Weekend.
Stateline Wine and Spirits which organizes Brew-Ski Fest to benefit Salisbury Winter Sports Association (SWSA), boasts an exciting lineup of popular beers including Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada, Surfside, and Boston Beer as well as local favorites Great Falls Brewery and Norbrook, and more. There will also be canned cocktails including High Noon and Long Drink, and hard cider brands including Stormalong and Downeast. The folks from Sunday in the Country Food Drive will be offering brats, burgers and dogs for sale to benefit their food program. The Steve Dunn Band will provide live music.
For the past 14 years, the popular event has been delighting beer aficionados with its rich diverse beer offerings in a fun intimate setting.
Unlike the big beer-tasting events where you stand in line seemingly forever to get a taste, at Brew-Ski you walk right up, ask for a beverage and chat with knowledgeable folks from breweries around the country.
Tickets for Brew-Ski Fest are $30 per person in advance and $35 at the door. Advance tickets are available online at jumpfest.org and at Stateline Wine and Spirits in Canaan, 860-824-7295.
Proceeds from the event, which will be held rain or shine, will benefit SWSA's youth skiing programs.
And don't forget the hugely popular Golf Ball Roll! Buy a numbered golf ball and watch as hundreds of them cascade down the ski jump landing hill- the ball that travels furthest wins the prize!
And remember to take a pumpkin with you when you leave!
Visit jumpfest.org for more information.

Holley Knife Manufacturing
The Holley Manufacturing Company, located on Holley Street in Lakeville, was one of the early producers of pocketknives. The company’s 1876 pocketknife display, made for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, has been totally refurbished and is now on display in the Academy Building.
To celebrate the project, the Salisbury Association’s Historical Society is hosting an Opening Reception on Saturday, October 5 from 4 to 6 pm for its new exhibit “The World Comes To Salisbury: Celebrating the Holley Knife Collection.” The exhibit will highlight the history and importance of the Holley Manufacturing Company and its display at the Exposition. The company, founded in 1844 by Alexander Hamilton Holley and George Merwin, produced products from 1844 to 1946.
Prior to the reception, the Scoville Memorial Library will present “Holley Knife History and Fun with Knives” at 3 pm on October 5. Theodore Rudd O’Neill, the great-great-great grandson of Alexander Holley will talk about how knives were made, the history of the Holley Manufacturing Company and why it closed, and the differences among knives today. Following his talk, you are invited to walk one block to the Academy Building for the exhibit reception.
