United Way of the Flint Hills has been selected to participate in the Rural Champions Program with a focus on addressing the complex issue of homelessness in Emporia, Kansas. The Rural Champions Program, developed by the Kansas Department of Commerce’s Office of Rural Prosperity in collaboration with the Kansas Sampler Foundation and the Patterson Family Foundation, aims to address critical public needs in rural communities by enhancing local capacities.
We strive to create a sustainable initiative by conducting a comprehensive needs assessment, utilizing data-driven research, and collaborating with local stakeholders to advocate for and raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals without housing in our community.
