Happy Halloween Week to Our Wonderful Clients, Neighbors, Friends, and Family,
As we approach Halloween, I’m reminded of how this festive time brings lighthearted fun and community connections, something refreshing as we head into a notable election season just days away. On Thursday, we’ll see trick-or-treaters filling the streets, and I hope it brings a smile to all of you as it does to me.
With the election season underway, some home buyers and sellers have shared that they prefer to wait until after such events before making major real estate decisions. Research from John Burns Research and Consulting, however, suggests that presidential elections historically have little impact on home sales in the five months leading up to them. You can read their article here. Given this, I reached out to Patrick Carlisle, Compass’s Chief Market Analyst for the San Francisco Bay Area, whose insights and data are shared below. In my experience, Marin County’s luxury market is more directly influenced by the stock market’s performance, with roughly 50% of $5M+ buyers paying in cash rather than financing. You’ll find Patrick’s charts below.

In local news, Marin County sales remain strong, with an impressive 5% year-over-year increase and a 25% rise in the $5 million-plus market. We've also included a city-by-city breakdown in the following charts for a closer look at these positive trends. | |

Property Shark has released its 2024 list of the U.S.'s most expensive zip codes, with notable mentions close to home:
- 78% of the priciest U.S. zip codes are in the Bay Area, Metro L.A., and Metro New York.
- The Bay Area claims 39 of the top zip codes, with Ross ranking #6 (average price $3.85M) and Stinson Beach #7 ($3.8M)
- Atherton holds the top spot for the 8th year running, with an average price of $7.9M.
On a personal note, I’m thrilled to share that our family has grown! My eldest daughter and newest team member, Courtney Condy Thompson, recently married her wonderful husband, Nate. We couldn’t be happier to welcome him into our family.
