Dear friends,
Have you ever taken time to reflect on what it is you love about being an AFP member? When I joined our chapter’s board of directors, I was asked to share what I love about AFP. Here’s what I said five years ago:
"I love being a part of AFP because it gives me the opportunity to meet colleagues who are also passionate about improving our community through philanthropy. Some of my most cherished relationships are with people who I met through AFP. Additionally, having the chance to continue improving my knowledge of fundraising and staying up to date with best practices is the cherry on top!"
For nearly 45 years, our local chapter has been a part of the larger AFP Global network. The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy supports us at both the global and local levels through leadership development (scholarships and LEAD conference), The IDEA Impact program (scholarships and mentoring), research (Fundraising Effectiveness Project), and ethics awareness. Each year, our chapter commits to giving back to the foundation through the BE the CAUSE campaign. If you love being involved with AFP like I do, I hope you will consider joining us in supporting the campaign in 2024.
Our good friend Paul Dunne, 2024 chair of the AFP U.S. Foundation for Philanthropy Fundraising Board, will be visiting us during the October chapter meeting to share more about how your BE the CAUSE donation will make an impact and how you can match your gift!
During the October chapter meeting (which is a breakfast meeting at 8:30a – don’t forget!), we will also vote on our 2025 board of directors slate and hear a fantastic panel discussion featuring representatives from a few of our local philanthropic corporate partners. I hope to see you all there!
