Lower Providence Library News!
| |
Hello Friends!
Fall is officially here, and so is my favorite time of year. This month, I'm looking forward to spooky and cozy reads, watching the leaves change, and making giant pots of soup!
In September, we held the Second Annual Taste of Lower Providence in support of the Lower Providence Community Library. I would like to thank everyone who attended the event and helped to make it a success! We were able to raise over $17,000 for the library.
So much of the success of the Taste of Lower Providence is due to the local establishments that donated food and beverages to the event.

The Taste of Lower Providence is a fun night and ensures that we can continue to serve the community that we love and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
In September I read four books, the lowest monthly book count I have had in 2 years. However, the quality of the books I read in September was excellent, including 3 Pulitzer Prize winners for fiction. These 3 books are the 1998 winner American Pastoral by Philip Roth, the 2005 winner Gilead by Marilyn Robinson, and the 2017 winner The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. Books that are prize winners are often more challenging reads and require a greater level of concentration than my usual choices.
Despite the challenge, I feel that I am a more well-rounded reader after this month, and look forward to reading more prize winners.
Happy reading and see you at the library!
