I was thrilled with the turnout at September’s Café Europa* and hope for similar attendance at our

upcoming Kosher luncheons:

You will find information on an interesting free presentation about the Rwandan genocide on October 29 below plus information on two events around the book and miniseries, We Were the Lucky Ones.

This October 7th, join the Greater Phoenix Jewish community as we come together to commemorate the one- year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. This special program will provide an opportunity to honor the lives lost and those still in captivity, reinforce our collective strength and resilience, and look towards a brighter future together.

Holocaust survivor, Herbert Marx was born on May 12, 1934. When Herbert was just 6 years old, Nazis came into his town, rounded up his family & loaded him, his mother, grandmother, and three aunts into a railroad car used to transport cattle where they traveled for two days prior to being taken to concentration camp in Gurs, in Vichy France. Please join us in hearing Herbert's courageous story.

Courage and Memory: Bridging Holocaust Education with Commemoration of October 7th

 with Adi Bernstein

Wednesday, December 11 at 7pm (MST)


In this innovative lecture, Adi employs cutting-edge methods such as a 360-degree tour of the October 7th burnt vehicles compound and Nova. She discusses October 7th through the lens of a Holocaust educator, incorporating her extensive knowledge and beliefs about commemorations. Adi’s use of Jewish philosophy allows her to view October 7th from a perspective that emphasizes strength through courage and memory.

Speakers Bureau

Holocaust survivor Esther Basch spoke to Ashley Crose's Holocaust/Genocide studies class at Saguaro High School via Zoom.

Holocaust survivor Dirk Van Leenen spoke after all 18 performances of "The Diary of Anne Frank" at

Herberger Theater. He reached almost 6,000 Arizona students.

3G Adena Bernstein presented her grandmother's story of survival in Ashley Crose's Holocaust/Genocide Studies class at Saguaro High School
