Short Notice! Add Your Voice!

Mt Hood Wild and Free Advocates,

We need you to show up and demand your voice be heard at the upcoming Board of Commissioners meeting this Monday night at 6:00 PM. An important agenda item has been added: To review the underlying valuation reports in the record as directed by the Court to determine whether the forestland exchange between Hood River County and Mt. Hood Meadows was for equal value.

Your presence is essential to demonstrate to the commissioners that this issue matters to our community. We were given only two business days to prepare for this significant topic, which is far from sufficient. While we are unsure if public comments will be allowed during the meeting, it’s vital that we gather in numbers and express our desire to be heard.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Show Up: Attend the meeting on Monday at 6:00 PM. The meeting is Hybrid: in person (601 State St., Hood River, OR) and via Zoom. Your presence counts!
  2. Speak Up: If there is an opportunity for public comment, let your voice be heard.
  3. Write It Down: Submit written comments to express your concerns and opinions. All written comments should include a request for the comment to be included in the public record and state the agenda item/title: 9 (A.) Remand Proceedings, Hood River Valley Residents Committee, Inc. (Thrive) and Mike McCarthy v. Hood River County and Mt. Hood Meadows Oregon, Ltd., Case No. 020029CC
  4. Spread the Word: Encourage others to attend and participate.

Let’s make sure our voices are not only heard but valued. Together, we can advocate for our community's interests!

To make the greatest impact, we would ideally love for you to show up in person and provide both written and verbal comments.

Here is a sample for both written and verbal comments:

"Thank you commissioners for hearing my comments. My name is ________ and I live at ________________. Please add my comment to the public record. This comment is on agenda item: 9 (A.) Remand Proceedings, Hood River Valley Residents Committee, Inc. (Thrive) and Mike McCarthy v. Hood River County and Mt. Hood Meadows Oregon, Ltd., Case No. 020029CC.

I am opposed to the land exchange between Hood River County and Mt. Hood Meadows. I received only a two-business day notice that this item would be on your agenda Monday. That is not sufficient for me to adequately prepare my comments. Your decision is very important to me, and I would appreciate the opportunity to speak on it. I kindly request that you consider allowing me to address this issue at a future meeting so that I can organize and clearly present my thoughts. Thank you for your time and consideration."
