Embracing Change

As we transition into autumn here in Arizona, the air will grow cooler, and our days will become a little shorter. While the vibrant colors of changing leaves may not grace our landscape, this season still symbolizes change and renewal.

This invites us to reflect on our community and the incredible volunteers who support us through every transition. While transitions can be challenging, they also provide an opportunity for growth and renewal. It is during these times that your unwavering dedication shines even brighter.

House of Refuge volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization. Your selfless contributions enrich our programs and support the families we serve. From sorting donations to mentoring children, each act of kindness leaves a lasting impact. As we transition into this new chapter, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to every volunteer.

Your commitment to service inspires us daily. You embody the spirit of autumn—full of warmth, change, and beauty. We appreciate the time, energy, and passion you invest in our community, especially during times of uncertainty. You are not just volunteers; you are our partners in creating positive change.

Thank you for continuing to be part of our journey and believing in the mission. Together, we can adapt, grow, and flourish, just as the season encourages us to do. Your involvement is crucial as we navigate these changes, and we encourage you to reach out, share your ideas, and help us shape the future.

This autumn let’s celebrate the beauty of change and the incredible community we are building together. Thank you for your dedication and for being a vital part of our mission. Together, we can turn the challenges of today into the opportunities of tomorrow.

Volunteer Spotlight

Elder Helm

Maintenance

Please help us congratulate Elder Helm, October’s Volunteer of the Month! Since joining the maintenance department four months ago, he has made a significant impact with his positive energy and commitment to learning.

Cesar Celis, our Director of Facilities, shares, “Elder Helm always comes with a smile on his face and is ready to tackle any challenge. He has improved tremendously and enjoys working with our team. He never complains and is always eager to help.”

Every Wednesday, Elder Helm shows up ready to contribute, consistently looking for ways to keep his fellow elders safe. A recent highlight was when he helped install two water heaters in one day. “His enthusiasm and willingness to learn were evident during the installation. He even asked me when the next one will be!” Cesar adds.

When asked about his favorite thing about House of Refuge, Elder Helm says, “House of Refuge has helped me continue to grow substantially in my maintenance skills and work ethic. It brings me peace and a little adventure every day. Being able to help and serve several small families brings so much life and meaning to this place, and I have grown to treasure it a lot. I look forward to the future ahead.”

Elder Helm volunteers because he wants to give back to his community and share the love of Christ by serving all His children. Elder Helm truly embodies the spirit of volunteerism, and we are grateful for his hard work and dedication.

Thank you, Elder Helm, for being invaluable to our community!
