Dear Constituent,

Below please find my latest update on news from Albany and around the district.

Healthcare Forum and Resource Fair

Big changes are coming to healthcare soon as a result of recent federal legislation. I will be co-hosting a bilingual healthcare forum and resource fair at the Ossining Public Library with Senator Pete Harckham Monday, October 27 from 6-8 PM to help residents learn more and prepare in advance. We will be joined by a panel of subject matter experts sharing vital information, particularly for those who are covered by Medicaid, the Essential Plan, or purchase health insurance from New York State of Health. Local partners and care providers will also host tables sharing resources. Join us!

Federal Action Reporting Form

The Attorney General’s office has created a new portal to collect reports of civil rights violations and other unlawful actions by federal agents. If you have witnessed or experienced such behavior, visit https://ag.ny.gov/federal-actions-form to report it.

Sincerely,

Assemblymember Dana Levenberg

Roads Update

Ensuring that our roads get the attention and resources they need continues to be a top priority of mine. Thanks to our collective advocacy, Route 134 is currently being repaved from Route 9A in Ossining to the New Castle town line. The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) has added repaving projects for Route 133 in Ossining and New Castle and the unfinished portion of Route 9A in Briarcliff Manor to the Transportation Improvement Program. My colleagues and I are currently pushing hard for the state Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to also prioritize these projects to help ensure that they come to fruition as planned in 2026. I recently met with the assistant commissioner overseeing NYSDOT Region 8 to discuss key roads and projects in my district, including Routes 9, 9A, 133, 134, 129, 9D, the Bear Mountain Parkway, and Annsville Circle, among others.

We have also received some very welcome news about the Bear Mountain Bridge deck replacement. The New York State Bridge Authority has confirmed that they will be putting in suicide deterrent fencing as part of this project. This initiative will save lives, and is more evidence that our advocacy works. Please continue to make yourselves heard on this issue by reaching out to my office and relevant agencies directly.

Legislative Update

Twelve of my prime-sponsored bills passed both houses of the legislature this past session, and I’m pleased to note that to date, the Governor has signed seven of them into law. Most of these new laws address priorities identified by municipalities in Assembly District 95, and one makes it easier for our volunteer firefighters to get the healthcare they need. I will continue working to see to it that the remaining bills are also signed.

Fourteen of the bills I co-sponsored this session have also been signed into law, including legislation enabling police to seize firearms when responding to reports of family violence (A.544B), legislation to address antisemitism and racism on college campuses (A.5448B), and A.8080A, which enacts a sales tax sharing agreement in Putnam County. Sales tax sharing has been a top priority for Philipstown leaders, and I am proud that we were able to pass legislation to establish this precedent in Putnam.

I am also working with colleagues to push legislation to address the problems caused by the Trump administration and Trump's allies in Congress. Fairness demands that we raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy to care for the New Yorkers whose access to healthcare and food is being jeopardized by federal spending cuts. We also need to pass legislation like New York for All and the Mandating End of Lawless Tactics (MELT) Act to strengthen due process and protect our communities from the appalling behavior we are seeing from Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). I also intend to co-sponsor the Reciprocal Enforcement of Claims on Unpaid or Reduced State Entitlements (RECOURSE) Act, sponsored by my colleague Micah Lasher. The Trump administration has repeatedly attempted to illegally rescind federal funding that is duly owed to New York State. The RECOURSE Act would establish a mechanism by which New York would withhold certain federal tax payments if and when the federal government violates a court order requiring them to pay monies owed to the state.

With members of the Assembly Housing committee this week

In preparation for the next legislative session, I have also been back to Albany recently for public hearings. The Housing committee held a very informative hearing on rent stabilization outside of New York City, a topic of keen interest given the housing affordability challenges plaguing the state. Visit the videos section of my website to see video from this hearing.
