President's Message

Condo living isn’t for everyone, but for many of us it’s just right. We enjoy friendly neighbors, freedom from mowing lawns, shoveling snow, or washing windows, and the city keeps our dumpsters and recycling well managed. Add in our community events, like the summer picnic, ice cream social, and holiday party, and it’s a lifestyle with plenty of perks.

One of the most important events each year is our Annual Meeting, coming up on Wednesday, November 20, at 7:00 pm. Last year, for the first time in memory, we didn’t reach a quorum, which meant we couldn’t hold board elections and many residents missed hearing updates from the board. While we still had a lively discussion with those who attended, reaching a quorum is essential for moving our community forward.

This year, let’s make sure we have a strong showing. Your presence helps shape the future of our community and ensures every voice is represented. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us on November 20. I look forward to seeing you there!

Community Building Litigation Update

The arbitrator has issued a final decision regarding the Community Building litigation. The main outcomes are:

  • The agreements remain valid and in effect.
  • Neither Summit View nor Walden Hills will receive damages.
  • Summit View will have an office in the Community Building, with costs shared fairly between both communities.
  • The Governing Committee will continue to operate independently, and both parties must follow the existing agreements.

This decision brings closure to the dispute and offers a clear path forward.

Please Don't Feed the Squirrels

Our squirrels have been caught red-pawed, digging in flower pots and begging on balconies. Cute? Yes. Mischievous? Definitely!

But when we feed them, they turn from charming visitors into pushy pests. They’ll keep coming back for more, leaving behind messes and mischief.

So let’s keep the peace: no snacks for squirrels! Admire their acrobatics from afar, and they’ll stay healthy, wild, and much less likely to redecorate your balcony.

Keeping Cars and Community Secure

A few Summit View residents recently discovered that cars parked overnight had been rummaged through. Fortunately, there has been no major damage or theft reported. While it’s not always clear how access was gained, we can all take a few easy precautions:

  • Lock your car doors and close windows.
  • Keep valuables out of sight or bring them inside.
  • Carport lighting is being reviewed by management to enhance safety.

A little prevention goes a long way in keeping our community secure.
