"CHOICES: THE MAN WOMAN THING" TO BE EXHIBITED

Opening October 25th, Judith Peck’ sculpture “Choices: The Man/Woman Thing” will be exhibited at the Mora Museum of International Art in Jersey City. Sponsored by the Sculptors Guild, the show runs from October 25th to December 6th and includes works by other notable sculptors in the Guild.

“The sculpture explores a woman’s daily decision about the identity she will choose: how aggressive or passive, masculine or feminine she must be in her actions and reactions to her daily trials,” explains Peck. “The figure reaches for her empowerment, like what to wear that day to accomplish her goals.”

The opening reception is Saturday, October 25th from 7-9 pm at Mora Museum of International Art 80 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302. Peck will be on hand from 7:30 – 8:30. Contact Curator Tina Maneca: TLManeca@gmail.com to learn more.

Currently two sculptures in this series are displayed at the Mahwah Museum (“Seated Lady in Red” and “Women’s Nature-Landscape of Hills and Valleys”), two are on view at the Warwick Winery (“Falling Woman” and “Reclining Woman-Black”), and one is shown at The Leonia Sculpture Garden (“Joyful Company”).

SCULPTURE SPOTLIGHT – “PARK AVENUE”

Judith Peck’s “Park Avenue” recasts the polished archetype as a symbol of modern dissonance. The figure’s controlling pose, sweeping coif, designer heels and determined features take untold effort to maintain, contrasting as they do with the tension between social stature and inner fallibility.
