Description of Close to Home Construction and how/when it all began.
Our construction operation started in April of 2017. We were not called Close to Home though. We had a mouthful of a company name that implemented a gold star into the logo. After gaining traction, our market focus switched from foreclosure work, handyman services and light interior remodels to a full service exterior contracting company and Close to Home Construction was born! We now handle most roofing projects (residential and commercial), we replace siding, windows and doors and we build really nice decks! We will occasionally build a pole shed or an addition for the right customer!
How has Close to Home Construction contributed to the community?
Over the years we've contributed to the Rockford community in a multitude of ways. We've volunteered for 1,000 by providing bingo prizes, we pressure washed the building prior to our new mural going up in town, and we removed and covered graffiti under the railroad tracks on Maple Street. We've supported and made contributions to the local masons club, lions club and Riverworks. When we've had local jobs running, we've fed our crews from the Riverworks food truck.
One year, it was brought to our attention that several of our local school teachers spend thousands of their own money each year to help provide necessary materials for their students. That Summer we sent out emails to the 3rd grade teachers asking them to create a "wish list" for all the supplies they would need for the following year. Once compiled, we created a project for a local girl scout troop and we hand delivered the entire list directly to the teachers. This was one for the memory books. A lot of them were brought to tears with gratitude!
When Green Rock Deli switched ownership, we sponsored a free lunch to the community! We have volunteered at Riverwood church by helping and inspiring the youth program and almost all of us have helped pack or distribute food to our communities through Nourishing Hope. Next week, we are donating a new roof for a storage shed at Our Father's Lutheran Church. We've sponsored hay rides, fall festivals and many more events over the years.
At Close to Home, we don't believe in giving back. We believe in paying it forward!
What is something you admire about the Rockford/Greenfield Community?
I love the small town feel. I've never been one to try to win a popularity contest, but I can rarely visit any local establishment without running into someone we know! The loyalty of this hard-working class of people is something I've never witnessed outside of Rockford! Also, the outpouring support of our local businesses! I've met most business owners in our small town and almost all of us desire to help where we can to make Rockford/Greenfield a better place to live.
