From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

I am grateful to the Lord for the wonderful Annual Meeting we had at Pinecrest Baptist Church. Our business session began at 5:00 p.m., during which the messengers re-elected Terry Ryan as Moderator and James Kelley as Vice-Moderator for a second term. The 2026 budget was also approved, along with the nominating committee report. In addition, the messengers granted the Executive Committee authority to approve a revised budget once our office property has been sold.

Following the business session, we enjoyed a rich time of food and fellowship before gathering for an inspiring worship service. Voices of Truth from Brewton-Parker Christian University, along with Steve Williams, led us in worship and blessed us with powerful messages in song. My good friend, Dr. Wayne Bray, brought a stirring message reminding us that the Gospel is not just good news—it is great news! My prayer is that we will be intentional in sharing this message every day. I am deeply thankful to Pinecrest Baptist Church for hosting this year’s meeting, in their newly renovated sanctuary, and I look forward to next year’s gathering on September 13 at FBC Vienna.

In the days ahead, I am excited to meet with our Ministry Teams and Association leadership to pray, dream, and plan together as we seek God’s direction for our mission and vision. My hope is that our Ministry Teams will continue to be a strong resource for our churches, encouraging them in their local ministries and partnering together to reach even more people with the Gospel. I will share more about this after our meetings, but I ask for your prayers as we trust God to strengthen our fellowship of churches for Kingdom impact.

It is truly a joy to serve our pastors and churches. This month, we will observe a Day of Prayer for our Association on October 19.

Here are five specific ways you can join us in prayer:

  1. Associational Leaders – Pray for wisdom, discernment, and guidance for our leaders as they equip and encourage our churches.
  2. Unity Among Churches – Pray for strong bonds of cooperation and fellowship that enable us to serve together effectively.
  3. Spiritual Growth – Ask God to draw individuals closer to Him, transforming lives through His Spirit.
  4. Outreach and Evangelism – Pray that we would faithfully share the Gospel in our communities, across our state, in our nation, and around the world.
  5. Spiritual Revitalization – Pray for revival and awakening that will renew our churches, communities, and our nation.

I encourage you to set aside time during your worship service on October 19 to pray for the South-Central Baptist Network churches.

Congratulations Pastor Reed Benson!

Rev. Reed Benson, pastor of Byromville Baptist Church, celebrated 50 years of faithful ministry on September 21, 2025. This milestone was marked by decades of unwavering dedication, spiritual leadership, and compassionate service. He has guided generations through life's joys and trials, staying committed to the Word, his faith family, and his community. May God continue to bless Bro. Benson and his family as they continue to faithfully serve Him. Below are a few pictures from that day of celebration.
