Connecting with Music Teachers

Hello, PTG Leaders! The Teacher Relations Committee is reaching out to all of you for some proactive help. You may know that we have a booth and represent the PTG at the Music Teachers National Association’s annual Conference each year. We’ll be in Chicago March 2026. At our booth, we provide referrals to piano technicians in their area. With the use of an upright piano and action models, we are able to demonstrate things piano technicians do other than just tune pianos. We have freebies, handouts and a laptop we can use to connect to the PTG website to show the resources that are available to them in the Teacher Resources Area. We also have information on how to become a technician for those who ask. Connect with your local music teacher organizations and be a part of their next event either at the local or state level. You might also consider hosting a local music teacher event. Did you know that you can contact the Home Office for freebies and handouts? You may also apply for a grant to cover up to 50% of the event costs. Thank you all for your proactive help!

Chapter and Exam Grants

Congratulations to the Detroit-Windsor Chapter for receiving a Chapter Grant to help fund a booth at the 2026 Michigan Teachers Conference. Thinking about organizing a chapter recruitment or exam event in your area? PTG can help offset the cost. Download a Chapter Marketing Grant application or an Exam Grant application and learn more about applying for matching grants.

Scheduling an RPT Written Exam

The written exam is taken online. The RPT sponsor should contact the Written Exam Committee at writtenexam@ptg.org to set up a written exam. Only the English version is available at this time. The fee for the written exam is $25. Examinees should purchase a written exam voucher in the PTG Store. Select RPT Exam Voucher from the Categories list, then select Written Exam Fee. You'll receive your voucher purchase confirmation via email. Your order # will be proof of purchase. Your exam purchase information is automatically forwarded to the Written Exam Committee, so you don't need to submit that information when you request your exam.

Sponsor a Technicians Playground

Jim Busby, PNWRVP reported that there was another successful Technicians Playground sponsored by the Salt Lake City, UT Chapter at BYU a few weeks ago. “I hope you all will take the time to explore the playground and more importantly, have activities that spark interest in PTG and its mission,” he said. Each region now has a set of the stations. Check with your RVP for more info.

Promote Your Chapter, State or Regional Training Event

Did you know PTG will help you promote your local event? We'll send out up to two blast emails to members and post it on our Events Calendar. All you need to do to get started is to fill out a Seminar Request Form and send it to Kathy Maxwell at kathy@ptg.org. We'll get your event approved, post it on the calendar at www.ptg.org and help you promote your event through email to other PTG members. Need some help with design and promotional materials? Let us know.
