Greetings!
It's already the last day of October, and the holiday season is right around the corner! Where has the time gone? If you have been following the Collier County Public Schools official Facebook page, you will see various opportunities for our students and know that our schools are full of life! It's been amazing to see how our students use their time and talents within their schools but also our community!
Our teachers, staff, administrators and YRD's continue to put their hearts and souls into making sure we prioritize academics and safety in our schools. It is definitely a team effort, and I am so proud of the accomplishments so far! Here are some brief updates from the board level:
- The Board had a 2nd read on various policies and updated policy language. Most often these changes happen as a result of legislative changes in Tallahassee.
-
Earlier in the month, the Board held a Legislative work session with our lobbyist, Megan Faye from Capitol Consulting. She gave an informative presentation from the last legislative session and forecasted what is coming next session.
Next month there will be a construction update on Ave Maria Elementary, and the Board will have their annual Organizational Meeting. At this meeting, the Board will vote on the Board Chair and Vice Chair and decide on the yearly meeting schedule. While I loved serving as your board chair these last three years, I think it is time to pass the torch for at least the next year. Thank you for your support and encouragement these last three years. I look forward to continuing my service to Collier County Public Schools.
Lastly, I would like to finish my newsletter on a more personal note. Today is the anniversary of my father's passing. It has been 18 years already! He was my hero and still is to this day. I would not be the person I am today without his influence, love, and sense of humor. It was an honor and privilege to be his daughter. Tomorrow is not promised...make it a great day!
With gratitude,
