Michael D. Smith Featured in Fortune

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the workforce, young people need new pathways to gain experience, build skills, and prepare for meaningful careers. In a recent Fortune op-ed, Eckerd Connects President & CEO Michael D. Smith explores how paid, purposeful service can help bridge that gap.

Smith highlights service as a powerful career-launching opportunity, giving young people hands-on experience, industry-recognized credentials, and leadership development while making a positive impact in their communities. He outlines how investing in service opportunities can help more young people build family-sustaining futures while creating a stronger workforce and stronger communities for generations to come. Laundry of Love Brings Relief to Brevard County Families

A little help with everyday expenses can make a meaningful difference. On October 24, Eckerd Connects Family Services joined community partners for another successful Laundry of Love event, bringing together 55 volunteers who helped 111 Brevard County families wash and dry more than 1,762 loads of laundry in just three hours.

Now in its sixth year, the initiative demonstrates the power of community partnerships to ease financial burdens, strengthen connections, and support local families.
