Dean's Corner
One of the greatest strengths of the College of Business and Economics is our ability to bring together academic expertise, industry leadership and community partnerships to address the opportunities and challenges facing our region. This October provided several examples of that commitment in action.
A highlight was the 32nd Annual Economic Forecast Conference, presented in partnership with the Orange County Business Council. Dr. Anil Puri and Dr. Mira Farka provided timely insights into the economic forces shaping our region and beyond, offering valuable perspectives for business and community leaders. I encourage you to read more about the conference in this month's featured story and explore the full report on the Woods Center for Economic Analysis and Forecasting website.
The month also brought several opportunities for learning, connection and engagement across the college. The 25th SEC “Hot Topics” Conference brought together accounting professionals and academics to discuss pressing industry issues, while iDay connected students with career opportunities in risk management and insurance. The TCM Student Investment Conference welcomed high school and university students for expert panels, pitch competitions and industry networking. We also hosted alumni and friends for a behind-the-scenes look at Landmark Hall as construction continues on this important addition to our campus.
We also pause to remember Dr. Dorothy Heide, Professor of Management and Associate Dean Emerita, who recently passed away. Throughout her distinguished career, Dorothy served as a professor, department chair, associate dean and chair of the Academic Senate. She was also a passionate advocate for women's leadership, helping establish the foundation for the CSUF Women's Leadership Program. Her dedication to education and service leaves a lasting legacy, and our thoughts remain with her family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we reflect on the people and accomplishments that have shaped our college, I am grateful for the continued support and engagement of our alumni and friends. Your involvement strengthens the experiences we provide our students and the connections that make our college such an important part of the Orange County community.
