Cuyahoga TOD Partnership Launched

Cuyahoga TOD logo

This month, five Greater Cleveland organizations—the Cuyahoga County Planning Commission, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority, the City of Cleveland, the Port of Cleveland, and Cuyahoga County—jointly launched Cuyahoga TOD, a long-term, collaborative effort to advance transit-oriented development (TOD) in Cuyahoga County communities. The initiative’s launch includes a fresh brand and logo, as well as the unveiling of cuyahogatod.org—a new website that consolidates relevant information in a single, centralized location.

The new website places TOD resources, financing tools, project tracking, design guidance, and active opportunities in a single, accessible location that allows developers, community partners, and residents to navigate the region's TOD ecosystem easily. It also debuts the Cuyahoga TOD brand, a visual identity that symbolizes upward momentum, seamless transit connections, vibrant neighborhood hubs, and a shared dedication to growing high-quality places throughout Cuyahoga County.

Columbus Road RFQ Issued

Columbus Road Development Site

The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA), in collaboration with the Cuyahoga TOD partners, has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Columbus Road Development Site in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood. The GCRTA-owned property is available for a transformative transit-oriented development (TOD) project. This 1.36-acre site is adjacent to the West 25th Street Red Line Rapid Transit Station and several bus routes, offering a strong opportunity for development that easily connects people to public transportation.

East Cleveland Adopts Zoning Changes

Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland

On September 15, East Cleveland City Council adopted a suite of zoning updates, including new commercial and residential zoning overlays, updated subdivision regulations, and revisions to powers and duties. This past June, City Council also adopted new commercial and residential design guidelines.

These zoning changes represent a four-year collaboration between the City of East Cleveland and County Planning to streamline processes and modernize regulations. These efforts set the stage for reinvestment along the city’s main commercial corridor, Euclid Avenue, and in the neighborhoods flanking it.

Projects Recommended for Clean Ohio Funds

At their September meeting, members of the District One Natural Resources Assistance Council recommended three Cuyahoga County greenspace preservation projects for state Clean Ohio funding.

  • The Cahoon Creek Riparian Corridor Enhancement Project is an approximately 8.5-acre site located within Cahoon Memorial Park in Bay Village, Ohio. The project will stabilize eroding bluffs, restore riparian habitat, and improve public access through an ADA-compliant pedestrian bridge, accessible paved trails, and seating areas.
  • Cleveland Metroparks will acquire and permanently preserve approximately 2.2 acres adjacent to West Creek Reservation in Parma. The property contains forested areas with mature trees, a Category 2 wetland, and several species of conservation interest. Restoration efforts will include removing impervious surfaces and invasive species, as well as planting native trees to create a more welcoming entrance into the reservation.
  • Cleveland Metroparks will acquire and permanently preserve approximately 51.8 acres adjacent to Mill Stream Run Reservation in North Royalton. The property contains around 3,800 linear feet of the East Branch of the Rocky River and over seven acres of Category 2 wetlands.

Public Input Needed for Master Plans

County Planning staff and our community partners held public meetings for the Bedford Master Plan and Valley View Master Plan earlier this month. Materials from the two meetings are available on the project pages, and both master plans have community surveys open to gather feedback from residents who were unable to attend the meetings.
