Your Voice is Sacred.

Your Vote Shapes Our Community

We are living through a time when the weight of the world can feel overwhelming. Everywhere we turn, another crisis demands our attention. Political divisions keep deepening, and many are questioning whether their voices matter at all.

I understand that exhaustion. When bad news feels relentless and our political leaders and systems seem disconnected from the people they are meant to serve, it is easy to wonder whether a single vote will make a difference.

But this election season, we cannot let exhaustion become silence. Our voices matter. Our neighbors matter. And this election matters.

As we approach the November 3 election, neighbors are expressing growing concerns and fear about exercising their right to vote. Some worry about being intimidated or targeted because of their skin color, the language they speak, or their political affiliation. Others are uncertain about their rights, whether they will encounter barriers at the polls, or whether their voices will truly be heard. These fears deserve to be taken seriously. No one should have to choose between their personal safety and exercising a fundamental democratic right.

The right to vote has never been just about casting a ballot. It is about dignity, justice, and the fundamental belief that every person deserves a voice in the decisions that shape our lives and communities. It is about whose stories are heard, whose needs are taken seriously, and who has a place at the table where decisions are made. When voting rights are threatened, whether our own or those of our neighbors, we cannot look away. Our commitment to justice must extend beyond protecting our own voices to defending the rights and dignity of every neighbor, especially those whose voices have too often been silenced or pushed aside.

Throughout our country's history, generations of people have organized, marched, and sacrificed to expand voting rights. Those rights were not freely extended to everyone, and the work of protecting them is not finished.Voting rights are justice issues. Voter empowerment is essential to building a democracy where everyone belongs. Having the right to vote means little if people cannot meaningfully exercise it. Voter empowerment means ensuring that our neighbors have access to accurate information, understand their options, know their rights, and feel safe and confident participating in the electoral process.

As a follower of Jesus, our faith calls us beyond the walls of our sanctuaries and into our neighbors' lives. It challenges us to recognize every person's dignity and stand alongside those whose voices have too often been silenced. We cannot claim to care about our neighbors while remaining indifferent to whether their voices can be heard.

This election season, faith leaders and volunteers are preparing to serve as Poll Chaplains and Peacekeepers, offering a peaceful, supportive presence and helping voters access resources when challenges arise. Together, we are working toward an election where every eligible voter can participate freely, safely, and with dignity. But protecting voting rights and empowering voters is not only the responsibility of election officials or trained volunteers. It is a shared responsibility.

This November, make a plan to vote. Learn what is on your ballot. Know your rights. Check your voting location. Reach out to neighbors who may need information, transportation, or support. Invite five people to make their voices heard.

Voting alone will not solve every problem before us. But our participation matters, and so does our commitment to ensuring that others can participate.Your voice is sacred. Your vote shapes our community.

This November, let us do more than cast our own ballots. Let us protect the right to vote, empower our neighbors to make their voices heard, and stand together for a democracy in which every person is treated with dignity.
