Change Your Clocks, Check Your Alarms - November 1

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 a.m.

Don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour and enjoy that extra hour of sleep!

We want to remind residents that changing your clocks is also a great time to check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms.

Take a few minutes to:

  • Test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to ensure they are working properly.
  • Replace batteries if needed, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Check the expiry dates on your alarms and replace units that have reached the end of their lifespan.
  • Review your family's home fire escape plan.

Working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms save lives. Make it a habit to check yours regularly and help keep your household safe!

Community Memorial Centre Feasibility Study:

Planning for the Future

The Township of Lucan Biddulph is taking a closer look at the future of the Lucan Biddulph Community Memorial Centre to ensure the facility continues to meet the recreational needs of our growing community.

At the October 13 Council meeting, Monteith Brown Planning Consultants presented findings from the Community Memorial Centre Feasibility Study.

The study examines the facility's current condition, community recreation needs, potential improvements and opportunities for future development. It considers how the Community Memorial Centre can continue to serve residents, recreation organizations and community groups in the years ahead. Community feedback collected through a public survey and open house helped inform the study.

What's Next?

Council received the presentation for information. The findings will help guide future discussions about facility improvements, recreation services and potential capital investments. No final decisions regarding specific improvements or construction have been made.

Don't Flush Wipes

Never flush wipes—including those labeled "flushable"—as they do not break down like toilet paper. They cause severe plumbing clogs, sewage backups, and costly damage to municipal sewer systems. Always dispose of wipes in the garbage, not the toilet.

Why You Should Never Flush Wipes:

They Clog Everything: Wipes (baby, cleaning, facial) do not dissolve quickly, leading to blocked pipes in homes, damage to sewer pumps, and massive "fatbergs".

"Flushable" is Misleading: Despite marketing, most wipes labeled "flushable" fail to break apart in the sewer system.

Council Approves Economic Development Strategic Plan

2026–2030

Lucan Biddulph Council has approved the Township's Economic Development Strategic Plan 2026–2030, establishing a roadmap to support local businesses, attract investment and strengthen the Township's economy over the next five years.

Developed with input from local businesses, residents, community stakeholders and the Community Economic Development Committee (CEDC), the plan identifies opportunities to encourage economic growth while maintaining the unique character of Lucan Biddulph.

The plan focuses on four strategic priorities:

  • Competitive Economy: Positioning Lucan Biddulph as an attractive location for business investment and growth.
  • Business Success: Supporting existing businesses, entrepreneurship and local business development.
  • Great Places: Enhancing downtowns, commercial areas and community spaces.
  • Partnerships & Capacity: Strengthening relationships and resources to advance economic development initiatives.

What's Next?

With Council's approval, the Township will begin implementing the plan's recommendations over the next five years, working alongside local businesses, community organizations and regional partners. The plan will guide economic development initiatives and help build a vibrant, resilient and sustainable local economy through 2030.

Fall Yard & Green Waste Collection

As residents continue their fall yard cleanup, the Township of Lucan Biddulph reminds everyone that designated green waste collection areas are available at Granton Park and the Lucan Public Works Yard.

  • These locations provide residents with a convenient way to dispose of acceptable yard waste, including leaves and other organic garden materials.
  • Place brush on pavement and NOT in containers. DO NOT LEAVE IN PLASTIC BAGS

Your cooperation helps the Township maintain these collection areas and keep the program operating efficiently for everyone.

Preparing for Winter: Snow Removal & Winter Parking Reminders

With winter just around the corner, the Township of Lucan Biddulph reminds residents of a few important ways to help keep our roads and sidewalks safe throughout the winter season.

Winter Parking Restrictions Begin November 1

From November 1 to April 30, between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., parking is prohibited on Township streets and in municipal parking lots. These restrictions allow Public Works crews to safely and efficiently clear snow and ice from roadways.

Help Keep Our Roads Safe

Residents can assist with winter maintenance by:

  • Removing portable basketball nets, hockey nets and other obstacles from roadways and boulevards.
  • Keeping vehicles off streets during snow removal operations.
  • Ensuring rural mailboxes are properly secured and maintained.
  • Avoiding pushing or depositing snow from private driveways onto public roads or sidewalks.
