Pumpkins and Pups!

Pumpkin Time. So Much Generosity. Fall Bingo. Handmade Dog Quilt Raffle. Beautiful Ornaments. The Littles. Comics for Critters. A Princess Tribute.

October brings pumpkin spice with loads of whipped cream! Speaking of pumpkin, you all rocked it last time we needed canned pumpkin for our seniors. Now we need other items from our Amazon wish list. Please donate at this LINK if you can. It will be delivered right to our doorstep!

We're welcoming October with overflowing cups of gratitude for this community we've built. There are ups and downs, but together we get through it all.

Between raffles, donations, adoption events, Troopers & Tails, Smokin' On the Creek, Heroes Pub, Angel's Share, Mustang Alley, American Legion #175, Kendra Scott, Pub Dog, and everything in between, we're truly honored to have received so much love over the past few months. We've highlighted some pictures from the festivities below! Thank you for being here to support our seniors!

It's Fall Bingo month! It's not too late to purchase tickets for an afternoon of winning cold, hard cash all in support of the sanctuary. Mark your calendar for Sunday, October 11th, starting at 1 PM!

Let's give it up for Terry Shaw, the mastermind and artist behind the beautiful Handmade Dog Quilt we are raffling off this month! Buy a ticket for a chance to win. It's the perfect time for cozy blankets as fall sets in, and we've got an amazing one to give away!

Speaking of artists, we're partnering with local illustrator and owner of Northlights Illustrations, Aurora Thomas, for a winter fundraiser to benefit SDS. Her gorgeous hand-painted ornaments are a perfect addition to your Christmas tree, and she will donate 50% of the proceeds to us at the end. Shop now to support the sanctuary!

Bring on the hilarity as award-winning comic Jonathan Yates and Outlaw Comedy founder Keenan Fraden tell jokes to raise money for senior dogs. Their comedy show is Friday, December 4th at 7 PM, and 100% of the proceeds support SDS. $30 gets you in the door for a night of side-clutching laughs. You don't want to miss Comics for Critters!

Our Princess Gracie has crossed the rainbow bridge. Her tribute speaks to the sass she exhibited and the love of her foster.

Our Hearts Are Full!

It's been a year of love and support at our sanctuary! Every single donation, fundraiser, and event, big or small, fills us with such joy. It's remarkable what we can do for others when we come together. So many dogs are given a fresh start because of you. The generosity of local businesses and our supporters would have made our founder, Val so proud. Thank you from the bottom of our wagging tails!

We're full of littles at the sanctuary right now. Lots of love could be yours if you consider adopting any of these lovely dogs. Find out more about each of them by clicking the Adopt button below. Let's give these little guys a new beginning!

A Princess Through and Through

Princess Gracie, a well-loved member of the pack, passed away peacefully recently. 🌈

This adorable pup came to us in 2023 when her elderly owner could no longer manage her insulin. Devastated, he asked if she would be well cared for at our sanctuary, especially considering her diabetes. We assured him that she would know only love here, and we would work tirelessly to find her a new home.

As with so many wonderful dogs at the sanctuary, Gracie found a home with our staff member, Jeff. He welcomed her to his pack when her seizures started and gave her a chance to know the love of home life once again. We truly believe Jeff is part wolf because Gracie was extremely particular with her humans, but Jeff was one of her favorites. 💓

Even though Gracie was with us for a long time, she found peace here. Plus, her former dad always sends us donations in her name and told us that if they ever came up with an insulin pill, he was coming back to get her. We can't imagine how much it hurt him to let her go. We only hope that he found comfort in the extra love she received from us.

Every time we lose one of our dogs, we remind ourselves that they were safe at the end. That matters. Princess Gracie was one of the lucky ones. She knew love before the sanctuary and after she got here. So many of the other senior dogs we rescue have faced horrors, but here at Senior Dog Sanctuary, there is only peace. Dogs never forget being mistreated, but they can learn a new normal. One that exhibits only joy, unconditional love, and happiness with a dash of silliness.

Our girl Gracie was truly a princess. 👑 She knew what she wanted, and she commanded every room she was in. Here's to hoping Dog Heaven is ready for her spiciness, because we are sure going to miss it. 💔
