September and October Mission Challenge

For the months of September and October, we will be collecting diapers for OPEN M. All sizes and quantities are accepted. OPEN M is currently completely out and asking for all diaper sizes; especially sizes 4, 5, 6 and adult! There is a box to drop off donations outside the main doors or they can be left on the table in the Gathering Area.

*We have collected 2,884 diapers so far!!!

Preschool Collection for Animal Shelter

Last week when the children from the preschool learned all about dogs and dog safety, we had the opportunity to count our gently used blankets, sheets, beach towels and bath towels we have been collecting for our Local Pet Rescue: so far 41! There is a bin in the main hallway if you would like to add to our collection that will be delivered to the shelter on Friday, October 27th.

Acme Cashback

It's that time of year again, Acme Cashback program has begun. Please save your Acme receipts and put them in the box on the wall behind the Welcome Center.

Lost and Found

We have a table set up in the Gathering Area that is full of items left behind. Please look through the items and see if you have left anything and take your items home. Items leftover will be donated.

Brookdale Senior Living is hosting a few events coming. See the flyers for more information on their Conversations in Aging, Medicare Seminar and Caregiver Support Group. These flyers are also available at the Welcome Center.

Java & Jesus—Sundays at 11 am

Using the scriptures from Sunday's worship service, we dive deeper into them and discuss applications to our Christian lives. No preparation is needed. So come meet fellow parishioners and take part in the discussion. We meet in Room 8 in the basement at 11 am after worship.

Wired Word—Sundays at 11 am - Beginning again September 10th

The Wired Word discusses big questions and scripture related to a current event each week while we fellowship with each other. No preparation needed, it is a new topic each week.

A combination of book and Bible Study as guided by the participant’s interests. A time for prayer and fellowship, as well.

Bible and Beer Men’s Fellowship—Last Monday of the month at 7 pm

We gather the last Monday night of each month beginning in September from 7-8:30 PM at a rotation of houses. We wrestle with issues of life and faith. Bring your favorite beverage. Snacks provided (usually pizza!).

Eat, Play, Pray—Sunday, October 8th 12-2 pm

Families, couples, kids and kids at heart are invited to gather for times of fun together.

After a summer hiatus the Eat Pray Play connect group will begin meeting again next Sunday, October 8th from 12-2pm. Anyone of any age is welcome to come for lunch, this is a group for all ages and life stages (kids, no kids, single, married, younger or wiser). Food Bank Service Team—Last Tuesday of the month at 9 am

Golf Club—Sunday, October 8, 2 pm at Mud Run

This will be a social golf group, providing an outlet to those interested no matter ability. We will meet the last Sunday of the month to learn and enjoy golf, and social time before or after events.

Sunday School and Children's Church lessons can be found on the church's YouTube Page. Each week Cyndi will be recording new and interactive lessons that your child can listen to from home!

This Sunday morning we are continuing in our series called Compass. THis week we are looking at how the scripture points us to Jesus. Ultimately we read the scriptures not because we are "supposed to" but because we want to get to know and have a deeper relationship with Jesus. We will do a practical exercise using John 15. 

On Wednesday night we will be continuing on in our series called Table of Context also focused on learning and understanding scripture. This week we are going to look at the way God can use the Bible to change our lives in positive, helpful and lasting ways. 

All about Letter “E” is the focus for the children this week. “E”xtra special snacks will include Eggo’s, and of course Ms. Sharon’s famous “Green Eggs and Ham”. Ames and Zaidee will be sharing their birthday treat on Tuesday and Friday. Our centers will include counting elephants, matching colored eyes and listening to different sounds in my filled eggs.

There will be no school on Monday, October 23rd due to Revere In-Service Day. 

In Chapel this week, the children will participate in all the hands-on activities in Creation Station that centered around our David and Goliath lessons before it stored away for another time!
