Highlights

Stewardship = Celebration = Fellowship

Fall is a time of harvest and giving thanks for our many gifts from God. At Church we rejoice by reflecting on what it means to be Good Stewards and help support the work of God’s Church here at Saint Michael’s. This week we celebrate the gift of our neighbors, that is each other!

Over the next several weeks we will give thanks for Saint Michael’s and all God’s gifts!

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (Matthew 5:14, 15 NIV)

Trunk or Treat?!

If you wish to participate in the event on Saturday, 10/31/26 at 5:30, there is a sign up sheet in the Narthex. People can either donate candy or small water bottles. Feel free to dress up if you wish as well. Held on the circular drive out front. Our annual community event.

THE DEADLINE TO DONATE FOR THE FALL DISTRIBUTION OF KIDS COATS IN HAMILTON COUNTY IS NOVEMBER 6TH. Kids Coats provides gently-used or new winter coats, gloves, mittens, hats, scarves (all sizes) to families in Hamilton County free of charge. Thoughts from Our Priest

Celebrate Fellowship!

Our love of God directly influences how we treat our family, friends and neighbors. Conversely, how we behave toward others affects our relationship with God. The two are always intertwined. Jesus knew this when he taught: “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22: 35,36) This isn’t just good advice. Christ makes us aware of a truth about how we are created in relation to God and each other.

If someone told us 40 years ago that inventions were coming that would enhance our access to information and each other, but at the same time negatively affect the quality of our fellowship with people nearest to us, would we still make that trade? Studies have shown that while our ability to easily contact other people has increased, it has actually led to many having more emotional loneliness. We now spend more time staring at screens than engaging human beings all around us. We actually know the people geographically closest to us less than ever. However, God still wants us to have deeply meaningful and fun relationships with real folks in our own communities. The Lord knows it is for our own good!

Fellowship is the word we use at church to talk about having fun times with each other. It is vitally important to the building up of God’s kingdom. We are actually called to get to know one another! We are encouraged to have fun and emotionally grow together. It is a huge gift from God! Fellowship is something we should all be good stewards of. However, sadly it is often on the back burner and last on the vestry agenda.

Recently, we had WELCOM (We Like Conversations Over Meals) dinners. They were a way to just get to know each other and have fun. It was actually one of the most important things we have done this past year. Let’s continue to be good stewards of fun here at Saint Michael’s in 2027. Right On and Amen!
