Thank you, Deacon Keehna!

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace.
About Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is a very important ministry at St Luke’s, this is part of who we are and what we want to do: to take care of each other, especially our sisters and brothers who are facing difficulties, health issues, grief etc. My fear has always been that some people would be forgotten and have the feeling that their church family has abandoned them.

In a small church the rector knows everybody and can easily identify when a member is missing. Pastoral Care at St Luke’s can not and should not be the ministry and the responsibility of one person. It is why we have a Pastoral Care Commission whose responsibility is to oversee the pastoral needs of our congregation. The Chair of this Commission is Carolyn Jones, the Co-Chair is Bonnie Cain, and the Clergy person in charge of Pastoral care is Deacon Chris Christy. They organize pastoral visits, home communion, and various ways to help those in need.

This morning I was greeted by two complaints of people who did not receive pastoral care when they were in need. No visit after an hospitalization, no call from the clergy. That’s a shame. And I’m very sorry that did happen. With the Pastoral Care Commission we will make plans to avoid these problems to happen again.

But Pastoral Care needs to be informed when a need arises. Too often we learn that someone had a health problem after the facts. When you or a loved one face a pastoral emergency, please call our special Pastoral Care Line: 928 460-2736. This number is always at the top of our Weekly E-pistle. In addition, you can always contact me, or a deacon, when you need a visit, a call, or need to talk.

Please don’t wait when you realize that nobody is contacting or visiting you when in need. Please, never assume that I, or the other clergy, know about your situation or your needs. Please understand that when you share information or news about an upcoming surgery for you or a loved one after a Sunday service, I will probably not remember because I receive so much information, and because on Sunday morning, between services, my brain is not necessarily registering this info correctly. Please, send me an email, shoot me a text to remind me, or call me! You can always call the office to make a Zoom appointment with me.

You need a visit, you want to receive communion, you want to talk, please contact our Pastoral Care Commission and we will do our best to serve you.

I’m keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. May the Lord keep you and bless you always.

Your brother in Christ,
Outreach Grants are awarded during two grant cycles to applicants serving
the needs of others in the areas of food, water, shelter, clothing, and
educational opportunities. Here is the list of grants awarded so far this year.
Altar Guild Needs YOU!!!
"This is a wonderful time to give back to the church as we forge ahead into our new format for worship at St. Luke's. The Altar Guild is a beautiful, behind the scenes ministry involved in preparing our service areas for worship - setting out everything needed for communion, making sure candles are filled and sanctuary areas are clean and neat, and then cleaning the linens and vessels used during worship after the services.
If you are interested in serving the church in the Altar Guild,
please contact Robin Borok, Directress, at 928-277-1879 or
twoaterra@aol.com for more information."

Serving Those Who Have Served Us So Well
The Outreach Commission asks for your help for over 350 U.S. Veterans now living in Yavapai County who are in need of undergarments (briefs, t-shirts, socks, thermal underwear, underpants, bras). There are about 90% male and 10% female vets who are in need. As some of you have seen, we have a yellow/black bin in the Gathering Hall near the front Church doors.  For the next three Sundays (as well as during the week), we encourage all who wish to donate undergarments to this worthy cause, do so especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of Covid-19, all undergarment items must be new and in store packaging. Unfortunately, this year, we cannot accept items that are not in this type of packaging.
Granite Creek Park Food Ministry is now serving each Saturday. A number of changes have been made which will help to keep both clients and servers safe. Masks for all are mandatory, as is social distancing. Hand sanitizer will be available. Clients will stay at least 6 feet from all servers, and servers will be 6 feet apart from each other. Food will be placed in a disposable “to go” box. Service begins at 11:00 am. For more information, contact Kathy Pessin, 928-771-2707.
Souls to the Polls!
Do you want to make sure your vote in the upcoming presidential election gets counted? A St. Luke’s parishioner, Jan Casacchia, wants to make sure that happens. She is volunteering to take people to the polls on election day, better yet, if you have a mail-in ballot and want to make sure it gets to the Election hdqtrs on time, she will pick you up, take you to the drop box at the County Bldg on Fair St. in Prescott and you could drop it in, then she’d take you back home. Also, for Arizona, early election voting in person takes place starting Wed., Oct 7 and goes through Friday, Oct 30. She would be happy to take people to that also. Jan doesn’t care what side of the political spectrum you are on, none of her business,
but everyone should have the right to vote.
If you would like to join Jan in giving rides or if you would like a ride
please give Jan a call at
With the re-opening of our Church several weeks ago, we have experienced a drop in the number of Ushers that serve at our Sunday morning services. If you, or if you know of someone, that is willing to serve at one of the 3 services on Sunday morning, we would love to have you join us. The duties are quite different from our normal duties. They are not difficult, and we would pair you with one of our experienced Ushers to learn. The services are at 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 12 Noon. If you think you’d like to join this wonderful ministry, please call me at 928-642-2626.
Thank you,  Jan Casacchia
