Prayer of the Day
Gracious Father, we pray for your holy catholic church. Fill it with all truth and peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in anything it is amiss, reform it; where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in need, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

..from the Pastor...
Sunday, we observe Reformation (the actual date of Marting Luther nailing the 95 Theses to the door of the Cathedral is October 31).
Martin Luther wrote the Ninety-five Theses*in Latin and posted them on October 31, 1517, at All Saints' Church in Wittenberg, Germany. The document challenged the Catholic Church's sale of papal indulgences**, questioned papal authority over purgatory, and sparked the Protestant Reformation***.
On his death bed, it has been quoted that Luther uttered these words: "We are beggars, that is true." We are indeed - begging for the Word, the true Word, the Word that is a lamp unto our feet, the Word that came from heaven and was pleased to dwell among us, the Word, Jesus, Christ, that showed us the way to God, and loving relationships with each other.
*95 Theses is a list of propositions Luther presented to the church for study and discussion
** Indulgences were disciplines required by the church - prayer, adoration of the Sacrament, reciting the Rosary, which were being sold to reduce the punishment in purgatory and to fund the building of St. Peter's in Rome.
***Protestant Reformation spawned many new churches: Lutheran, Anglican, Presbyterian, Disciples of Christ, Methodist, Baptist, and others.

All Saints Day is November 1.
All Saints celebrates the baptized people of God, living and dead, who are the body of Christ. As November heralds the dying of the landscape in many northern regions, the readings and liturgy call us to remember all who have died in Christ and whose baptism is complete. At the Lord’s table we gather with the faithful of every time and place, trusting that the promises of God will be fulfilled and that all tears will be wiped away in the new Jerusalem.(Sundays & Seasons)
We commemorate this time with the reading the names of our loved ones who now live in Christ. At both Masses, you will be invited to light a candle in remembranve.
If you would like a loved one remembered, please put the name in the remembrance book on the table with the prayer requests. You can also share a picture to be hung in our sanctuary for the month of November.
If you can't be with us, and would like a loved one remembered, please send the name(s) to Sharla DeLawter, parish administrator, at stpaullutheranchurchnj@gmail.com
All Saints Day is also a day for Holy Baptism. If you or a loved one would like to receive the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on November 1, please call the church office (201.837.3189) 0r contact Pastor Patt pastorstpaulteaneck@gmail.com for more information.

This is for all our little ones (and bigger kids, too!) We gather at 9am for a casual, self serve breakfast of cereal, fruit snacks (coffee for adults)
Children of all ages (3years and up) and their caregivers are welcome. Stick around for a song or two, some coloring, and a chance for parents to chat as our children 'catch' the faith.
Invite a friend!

The Pray Ground is a space at the front of the Sanctuary for children and their parents to play during worship. You and your children are welcome here!

Greg, who is part of our Social Ministry/Love in Action Committee, has placed a box in the narthex (inside the front door of the church) for items to be placed for distribution at our pantry. You can also have a delivery sent to the church via Amazon, Instacart, and DoorDash.
Thank you!
